STEVEN GERRARD'S Aston Villa had an impossible act to follow after the club paid tribute to their 1982 European Cup winning team of legends prior to kick-off. Ollie Watkins thought he had done his bit to send the club's former heroes home happy when he fired Villa in front with 21 minutes remaining. But the home side couldn't hold on to their slender lead and Palace equalised with nine minutes left through substitute Jeffrey Schlupp, who reacted quickest to Marc Guehi's knockdown. In the end a draw was a fair result as Palace finally scored at Villa Park for the first time in five minutes to remain one point and one place above Villa just outside the top ten. However, it took a timely save from Jack Butland in stoppage time to keep out Lucas Digne's stoppage time effort as it headed for the top corner of his net. Dwight Yorke has finally landed his first managerial role after being rejected by Aston Villa on three separate occasions. The former Manchester United striker has been appointed the new manager of Australian club Macarthur FC and will takeover from current boss Ante Milicic in the summer. Yorke, who retired in 2009, holds a UEFA Pro Licence but has until now been unable to secure his first job in management. He will now return to Australia ahead of next season, having won the title with Sydney FC during the 2005/06 season as part of his one year stay in the A-League. The Sydney Morning Herald have reported that Yorke was recommended to the club by Manchester United staff, having spent four years at Old Trafford as a player. LIVERPOOL star Fabinho is a huge doubt for this weekend's FA Cup final after being forced off injured at Vila Park. The Brazilian midfielder limped off just 28 minutes into the Reds' 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday . While the nature of the injury is not yet clear, hobbling off the field just four days before the FA Cup final against Chelsea is a worrying sight for Liverpool fans. Jurgen Klopp cannot see Manchester City failing to beat Aston Villa in their final game of the Premier League season, admitting that it is very unlikely that his Liverpool side will manage to win the title. The Reds go to Southampton on Tuesday night in their penultimate league match of the campaign, knowing that a victory will put them just one point behind City at the top of the table. A win at St Mary’s would take the Premier League title race down to the final day, but it would leave Liverpool needing to win at home to Wolves and hope that City slip up at home to Villa.
