The new Switch and Xbox versions of Fall Guys will be out next month, as the game disappears from Steam and plans a new season pass system. It seems a long time since Fall Guys was in the headlines, as while other lockdown hits have enjoyed ongoing success nobody seems to talk about Mediatonic’s family friendly battle royale anymore. Since the game initially rose to success by being given away free with PS Plus that’s no doubt why it’s next big step is to become free-to-play for everyone, on every format – including the new Nintendo Switch and Xbox versions. There’s also going to be a new PlayStation 5 version and, since Epic Games bought Mediatonic last year, the game is being delisted from Steam – although if you’ve already bought it from Valve it’ll still work and receive updates. All this will be happening on June 21 and will also coincide with the game’s second Season 1, so this is basically a complete relaunch. Mediatonic is clearly using successful … [Read more...] about Fall Guys will be free-to-play from June – including on Switch and Xbox

Nintendo NX is as powerful as Xbox One claim new rumours
Yet more Nintendo NX rumours have leaked, as last week’s Pokémon announcement confirms at least one of the sources. It looks increasingly certain that the NX will be launched this year, and it’s all thanks to a seemingly minor detail in last week’s Pokémon leaks. Last week saw a major leak of information about the 3DS’s line-up, including a new Pokémon title this winter codenamed Niji (which means rainbow in Japanese). A few days later Pokémon Sun and Moon were announced , and yet what were the filenames of the two officially released logos? ‘Niji_A_logo’ and ‘Niji_B_logo’. Since that seems to confirm the leak’s authenticity, it seems fair to assume the rest of the information was also correct… including the idea that the NX will launch this year and that Zelda will be a launch title. At the same time a separate set of rumours, from a source that has also proven accurate in the past, have been posted on website Dual Pixels . Despite his apparent reliability … [Read more...] about Nintendo NX is as powerful as Xbox One claim new rumours
Persona 5 PS5 ports announced alongside Xbox and PC – still no Switch
It turns out the Persona game ports weren’t an Xbox exclusive but are also coming to PlayStation 5. After much begging and hoping from fans, Atlus’ premier role-playing series Persona is coming to Xbox and PC, as announced during Sunday night’s Xbox showcase . Persona 4 Golden was already available via Steam but soon it, Persona 3 Portable, and Persona 5 Royal will release for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC and will be included in Xbox Game Pass. There were rumours of at least Persona 5 Royal coming to Game Pass back in March 2021 but why it’s taken so long for the series to finally be ported is anyone’s guess. So far, only Persona 5 Royal has a release date of October 21, with Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden to follow in 2023. One detail that wasn’t mentioned during the Xbox showcase, however, is that Xbox isn’t the only platform to receive these ports. They’re coming to PlayStation 5 as well. According to Eurogamer , Persona 3 Portable and … [Read more...] about Persona 5 PS5 ports announced alongside Xbox and PC – still no Switch
Persona 5 coming to Xbox Game Pass suggests new rumours
Microsoft’s aggressive new plans for Game Pass may include another new Japanese role-playing game, as hints emerge of Persona 5. Game Pass has been the best thing about Xbox for a while now but this month Microsoft has really gone on the offensive, adding not only Bethesda titles but also signing up brand new game Outriders and cult classics such as Octopath Traveler and Undertale . Where previously it could be weeks or months between major new additions to the service now it’s down to merely days, with a new rumour suggesting classic Japanese role-player Persona 5 is next. With Octopath Traveler, Yakuza 6, and others it certainly seems as if Microsoft is trying to compensate for its poor reputation when it comes to Japanese support and certainly Persona 5 is a great way to address that flaw. That’s if the rumour is true of course, but both Windows Central journalist Jez Corden and Shpeshal Ed from Xbox Era have been dropping some unsubtle hints that the game is … [Read more...] about Persona 5 coming to Xbox Game Pass suggests new rumours
Octopath Traveler and Yakuza 6 joining Undertale on Xbox Game Pass
Microsoft’s spending spree for Xbox Game Pass is far from over, as former Switch exclusive Octopath Traveler and Yakuza 6 are confirmed. Signing up a big budget game like Outriders to be a Game Pass game from day one cannot have been cheap, but Microsoft clearly has plenty of money left in its war chest, as it’s also signed up another Square Enix game in the form of Octopath Traveler . The retro styled Japanese role-player was originally released as a Switch exclusive in 2018, before appearing on PC in 2019, Stadia in 2020, and now Xbox One from March 25. There has so far been no hint of the game appearing on PlayStation 4 or 5. Announced at the same time is Sega ’s Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life , formerly a PlayStation 4 exclusive but now also coming to Xbox One and PC on March 25. That’s all on top of cult classic Undertale which was released for Game Pass today and marks the first time the game has appeared on an Xbox format. Of course, all this is in … [Read more...] about Octopath Traveler and Yakuza 6 joining Undertale on Xbox Game Pass
Games Inbox: PS5 vs. Xbox UI, Return To Monkey Island abuse, and Nintendo Switch 2 predictions
The Friday letters page is glad there was no God Of War Ragnarök blog update, as one reader hopes for a Baten Kaitos comeback. To join in with the discussions yourself email [email protected] Dashboard battle This surprised me, as generally I’d Sony were very good at interfaces, and yet when I suggested this to a friend he strongly disagreed and tried to convince me that Xbox has the best dashboard. Although every time I’ve tried to use it, it’s seemed slow an awkward, with too many ads. I’m curious then, to know what most other people think has the best UI? I would say the Switch doesn’t really count though as while it is very nice it doesn’t really do anything but play games, so it can afford to have a simpler interface. It seems a trivial thing but one of the reasons I didn’t get an Xbox Series X/S is because I didn’t like the interface, so I’m curious to know if anyone would actually stick up for it. Capcom Fighting Collection review – Darkstalkers Revenge
Capcom’s back with a new collection of classic arcade fighting games, this time focusing on non-Street Fighter titles like Darkstalkers. When you think of 2D fighting games from the 1990s, no doubt your mind goes immediately to Capcom. They started off the decade with the phenomenon that was Street Fighter 2 – the game that made fighting games what they are today – and they continued with not only sequels and spin-offs but a number of other fighting games that, while often similar in style, were their own thing entirely. Following up on 2018’s successful – albeit barebones – Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection comes Capcom Fighting Collection. A total of 10 games are included, the stars of the show being the entire Darkstalkers series (including previously Japanese-only entries Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2) and Red Earth, in its first ever release outside of the arcades. Rounding out the collection is Hyper Street Fighter 2, Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix, … [Read more...] about Capcom Fighting Collection review – Darkstalkers Revenge
