The little girl pushing a toy pram looked the picture of innocence to the Nazi soldiers guarding a truck. Yet Molly Bihet, 12, with her ten-year-old sister Joyce in tow, was anything but. The moment the Germans’ backs were turned, Molly nicked spuds from the lorry and shoved them into the pram. The petty thievery, a regular event, was a necessary evil because her family were hungry – but it was also a highly dangerous act of resistance. Molly lived on Guernsey in the Channel Islands, the only British territories occupied by Germany in the Second World War. For five years the Nazis made the people of Guernsey suffer. An image released by Sea War Museum Jutland showing the U-boat discovery. Photo: Sea War Museum Jutland/Ritzau Scanpix Rare wreckage of a German U-boat has been found in the Skagerrak sea near Denmark. It was highly modern and well ahead of its time,” Sea War Museum Jutland director Gert Normann Andersen told Ritzau. “Only two of the 118 that were ordered actually entered service,” Andersen added. Only one preserved example of a submarine of this type exists, … [Read more...] about German WW2 submarine wreckage found in seas off Denmark
0 Have your say The new boss of a popular South Yorkshire play zone has hit back after a complaint about displaying Nazi flags that were part of a World War Two game, saying she is the victim of a vendetta. Mum-of-two Sunnah Hussain, the new owner of indoor battle arena Lock 'N' Load, only took over the attraction this week and was instantly embroiled in a row after one visitor described the swastika flags as "disgusting."But Sunnah believes the attack, which came on the day she officially took over the Rotherham-based business, was a deliberate vendetta to jeopardise the firm, which sees participants of all ages take part in mock battles in realistic war zone settings. She said: "The place has been here for nine years and as far as I'm aware, no-one has ever complained about the flags before."It is strange that on the day I take over, there's suddenly a complaint about them. It leaves a very bad taste that someone feels inclined to try and disrupt all my hard work."Sunnah … [Read more...] about ‘It leaves a bad taste:’ South Yorkshire play centre boss hits back over ‘vendetta’ about Nazi flags in WW2 game
