Midwifery students are being taught how to help men give birth in a textbook that experts have warned is rife with anatomical fiction. Edinburgh Napier University told training midwives that they may be caring for a “birthing person” who has male genitalia and a prostate gland, in a bid to support transgender people . A module guide on how to provide safe care in childbirth told students: “It is important to note that while most times the birthing person will have female genitalia, you may be caring for a pregnant or birthing person who is transitioning from male to female and may still have external male genitalia. “You need to be familiar with the catheterisation procedure for both female and male anatomy. A newborn baby died after a senior doctor failed to see his mother face-to-face, an investigation has found. Officials found that maternity staff repeatedly missed chances to save the life of Giles Cooper-Hall, who died following a catalogue of errors in the maternity care of his mother at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. The failings emerged just weeks after the Ockenden Report found that more than 200 babies died as a result of failings at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. The latest report highlighted how similar issues at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust meant staff missed multiple opportunities to save Giles. A jury in Georgia cleared Duke on all charges but convicted him of concealing a death after he made a shocking allegation on the stand. Duke blamed a friend, Bo Dukes, for Tara Grinstead's murder and is facing up to 10 years in prison at his sentencing hearing. The suspects are not related despite having similar surnames. PIP has been subject to controversy probably since inception and it’s common knowledge that many individuals who apply find themselves fobbed off with spurious excuses, and end up being awarded nothing, despite having sat through the humiliating assessment.
