Published 19 December 2018 Share close Share page Copy link About sharing Robbie Williams has won a five-year battle over plans for an underground pool at his west London home, despite objections from neighbour Jimmy Page. The Led Zeppelin guitarist said he feared construction work on the pool could be "catastrophic" for his mansion Tower House. But Williams' scheme has now been granted conditional approval. Planning committee chairman councillor Quentin Marshall suggested the pair "find a way to talk" about the issues. Disagreements between Page, 74, and Williams, 44, began when the former Take That singer bought the house next to Page - which used to belong to Michael Winner. In May, Page argued at a Kensington and Chelsea Council planning meeting that the excavation work could damage his Grade I-listed Gothic-style home. For most of the past year Democrats have had to contend with voter dissatisfaction about rising grocery and gas prices, as well as the fact that the president’s party typically loses seats in the first midterm election. But a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist national poll found that if the election were held today, 48 per cent of registered voters said that they would vote for Democrats compared to 41 per cent who would vote for Republicans . There are, of course, reasons this does not automatically signal that Democrats will hold the House of Representatives. For one, that 48 per cent just looks at registered voters, not likely voters. Similarly, what voters think nationally doesn’t take into account how specific congressional districts or states will vote. That means that what candidates choose to emphasise and how they choose to talk about abortion will matter. The witnesses this afternoon were among that handful of election officials who stood against Trump’s attempted coup. Their testimony focused on the former president’s multi-state campaign to pressure state legislatures and election officials to overturn the 2020 election. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, Georgia Secretary of State COO Gabriel Sterling, and Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers all testified about Trump’s pressure campaign and debunked his voter fraud lies. On December 27, 2020, there was a call between then-President Trump, Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, and Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue. Trump’s pressure was relentless.
