Buffalo shooting suspect’s prior threat sent him to mental hospital
The White gunman accused of committing a racist massacre at a Buffalo supermarket made threating comments that brought police to his high school last spring but he was never charged with a crime and had no further contact with law enforcement after his release from a hospital, officials said. The revelation raised questions about whether his encounter with police and the mental health system was yet another missed opportunity to put a potential mass shooter under closer law enforcement scrutiny, get him help, or make sure he didn't have access to deadly firearms. Authorities said Sunday that they were investigating the attack on predominantly Black shoppers and workers at the Tops Friendly Market as a potential federal hate crime or act of domestic terrorism. Payton Gendron, 18, traveled about 200 miles from his home in Conklin, New York, to Buffalo to commit the attack, police said. Federal authorities were still working to confirm the authenticity of a racist 180-page … [Read more...] about Buffalo shooting suspect’s prior threat sent him to mental hospital

WE can all remember the noughties classic Supernanny, but one woman has shared a sneak peek behind the scenes of the iconic show. Meghann Cooke (@meghannhelaina) has been sharing her experiences on the show on TikTok, revealing some home truths for fans of the show. Meghann, from Bishop Stortford, Hertfordshire appeared on the show with her parents, Paul and Denise, and her two younger sisters, Gabriella and Erin, who were in dire need of Supernanny Jo Frost. Their episode showed numerous arguments and shouting matches between the lively girls and their parents. The family also stopped going on public outings in fear that Meghann’s behaviour may end up causing an embarrassing scene. Some of Meghann’s outbursts were so bad that during a conversation with Jo and Paul, she climbed up onto the dining table and lashed out at Jo and hit her. Margaret Thatcher statue egged by protester two hours after it’s unveiled
A £300,000 statue of Margaret Thatcher has been egged within two hours of it being lowered into place in her home town. More than three years after plans were first approved, the 10ft-high granite memorial of the controversial prime minister was unveiled in Grantham, Lincolnshire, today. Footage from this morning shows a man hurling eggs at the statue in front of shocked onlookers. He can be seen walking off after one of them eventually hit the massive sculpture at St Peter’s Hill. The incident should not come as a surprise after more than 13,000 people showed interest in such a protest two years ago. Originally intended for Parliament Square in Westminster, it was moved to the town due to fears of a ‘motivated far-left movement… who may be committed to public activism’. After a large-scale £100,000 unveiling ceremony was approved by South Kesteven District Council in 2020, a Facebook group proposed an ‘egg-throwing contest’ at the event. More than 2,400 … [Read more...] about Margaret Thatcher statue egged by protester two hours after it’s unveiled

But what happened when the F1 star chose to appear on Question Time and why did he call himself a ‘hypocrite’ on climate change? Has Vettel expressed political opinions before? The Rise and Fall of an All-Star Crew of Jewel Thieves
In March 2019 , the retired police detective Mike Crowley met me in the lobby of a hotel near the Miami Dolphins’ stadium. Crowley, a 71-year-old Vietnam vet, was wearing shorts, a white undershirt, and a camouflage baseball hat that said MARINE in block caps. Over the course of three hours, he sipped a single rum and Coke. Four years earlier, Crowley said, he’d noticed a pattern in a string of jewelry-store robberies happening all over Florida: The same means of entry had been used every time. As he spoke, I eyed a large stack of paperwork teetering on the table in front of us, including thick folders labeled DRILL TEAM in black marker. At first, Crowley had had multiple suspects for these crimes. He walked me through a laundry list of itinerant safecrackers who had passed through Florida in recent years, pulling off heists in various cities throughout the state. Florida, seen through Crowley’s eyes, is a migratory stopover for the most elite burglars and safe teams. If you … [Read more...] about The Rise and Fall of an All-Star Crew of Jewel Thieves
