Gary Neville slams Jesse Lingard’s brother after Man Utd rant saying ‘far better players than him didn’t get a send off’
MANCHESTER UNITED legend Gary Neville has had his say after Jesse Lingard's brother blasted the club as "classless". The former pro turned pundit claimed "far better players" than Lingard "didn't get a perfect send off" at United after Lingard was denied an Old Trafford farewell. The 29-year-old was an unused sub in Monday night's 3-0 win over Brentford, the club's final home game of the season. That cued brother Louie Scott's rant on social media , as Lingard's impending departure meant it was the last chance for him to run out at the Theatre of Dreams. Lingard himself also appeared to fire a dig at United, sharing a picture of himself as a youngster in a United top in an apparent reminder of how long he has been part of the set-up. But reacting to the saga, Neville claimed on Twitter : "I don’t get the Lingard fuss at all. Grease review: Peter Andre deserves better
You gotta feel for Peter Andre . No collateral casualty from the Wagatha Christie trial has been more deeply wounded. As Andre geared up for his West End debut as hip-swivelling DJ Vince Fontaine in this lacklustre revival of the 1971 musical (later made into the ever-popular John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John film) Rebekah Vardy ’s reported comments about his ‘chipolata’ turned this production into a side-show compared to events at the High Court . It would have all been so much easier to gloss over had Andre’s Vince not had the line ‘The moment you’ve all been waiting for. The big one!’ Whether intended as irony or not, nervous laughter rippled through this venue’s cavernous auditorium before the Mysterious Girl star (whose Vince is also played by Jason Donovan during this show’s run) gets into his stride, singing sweetly the first of his two numbers. From underneath a fathom-deep tan Andre emits a cuddle-worthy likability while throwing Elvis-inspired … [Read more...] about Grease review: Peter Andre deserves better
Big rise in winter rail disruption blamed on floods and bad weather
Rail passengers faced five times as many severely disrupted days this winter as in the same period last year, figures show, with flooding and adverse weather blamed for the increase in cancellations. There were 21 severely disrupted days – defined as a day on which the cancellations score is five per cent or more – between October and December, compared to four in the same period the previous year. Flooding and other bad weather in the north-west and the Midlands was largely responsible, according to the latest figures published by the Office for Rail and Road. Overall, the number of services running on time rose slightly on the same period last year, reaching 86.9 per cent, but it has fallen over a five-year spell. Grant Shapps, the Transport Secretary, wrote on Twitter that Britain's train companies still had "plenty more to do". "Last year I asked for trains to be regarded as 'on time' only when they arrive to the minute (not five or 10 mins late as per previous measure)," … [Read more...] about Big rise in winter rail disruption blamed on floods and bad weather
Here are five new high speed rail technologies that make Britain’s HS2 seem outdated already
Boris Johnson has given the green light for a high speed rail project connecting London to northern England, saying he would take a firmer grip on a project that is behind schedule and running billions of pounds over budget. HS2, the high speed line will slash journey times and add capacity to Britain's crowded network, allowing the UK to catch up with countries like France and Spain which have extensive high-speed rail. But out of date and spiraling over budget, the HS2 project (High Speed 2) has been slammed in an unpublished Government report that warns costs could continue to rise another 20pc. While the first phase of construction has only just begun, the project is already far above its original budget of £34bn. With the line not expected to begin operations until at least 2028, there are fears the new service will be out of date by the time it is ultimately deployed. There are already new technologies being developed that could supplant parts of HS2 or provide … [Read more...] about Here are five new high speed rail technologies that make Britain’s HS2 seem outdated already
There’s a reason Johnny Depp’s dog keeps coming up in the Amber Heard trial
One of the most striking links with domestic abuse is animal cruelty . I’ve seen in court cases that abusers harm or threaten to harm a beloved pet in front of their partner and their children. It’s terrifying – and it couldn’t be a clearer example of coercive and controlling behaviour designed to intimidate victims to remain in, or be silenced about, their abusive relationship. Which brings me to the latest from the high-profile court case in the United States involving Amber Heard, Johnny Depp – and his dog . Heard recently gave evidence that Depp, “grabs this teacup yorkie and holds Boo out of the window of the moving car, and he’s howling like an animal while holding the dog out the window…And everyone in the car – I’ll never forget it – everyone just froze. No one did anything.” She added, “I didn’t want to react to cause him to drop the dog,” Heard said. I’ve seen this before. It goes like this – if you dare to step out of line, I have the power to slit … [Read more...] about There’s a reason Johnny Depp’s dog keeps coming up in the Amber Heard trial
