Do Apple’s premium AirPods need fixing? I have some ideas

May 22, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

The year is 2024 and Apple is announcing the discontinuation of its AirPods Max over-the-ear headphones. The sentiment around the news is a mix of disappointment and disinterest. On one hand, the critics and consumers all agreed these were wonderful sounding headphones. The ANC and transparency modes were each best in class. The build quality was pristine. People who bought the headphones are extremely disappointed that their products will fade into extinction with no replacements on the horizon. On the other hand, nearly everyone who wanted to buy AirPods Max couldn't afford them, and thus, a quick malaise of indifference fell over the niche product's demise. This future is easy to predict because it's is a close reality of what has already happened to the HomePod, Apple's home Wi-Fi speaker. The HomePod was remarkable when it was first released: It had a compact size, yet songs still boomed with deep richness. Five years after its debut, in June 2017, the HomePod still provides a … [Read more...] about Do Apple’s premium AirPods need fixing? I have some ideas

May 20, 2022 by www.telegraph.co.uk

“Put out more flags” may well be the order of the day next Thursday for SNP activists everywhere. It’s a week too early for them to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee . But if I know my anti-monarchist Nationalists, there won’t be too many doing that, anyway. No, their much greater reason for celebration is that May 25 is the day that Nicola Sturgeon breaks the record dearest to her heart: by becoming the longest-serving First Minister of Scotland. And much, much better for this lady is the fact that in doing so, she wrests that mantle from the politician she hates most. Not Boris Johnson or any other unionist politician, but none other than her former mentor, Alex Salmond , the man she has sought to drive into political oblivion and whose attacks to bring her down she has spent several years trying to fight off. Wee Eck , as he’s known, did seven years and 185 days as First Minister – a span that Ms Sturgeon is soon to eclipse. As far as is known, there is no plan … [Read more...] about Cochrane’s Scotland: Nicola Sturgeon is about to break a record. What’s to cheer? Frankly, not much
