A fraudster was caught on CCTV staging a bogus “fall” over a pack of orange juice so she could claim £3,000. Her two accomplices who are believed to have helped by placing the obstacle on the floor have not been identified. Farida Ashraf, 41, of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, was given a suspended 21-month prison sentence for fraud this week. The case against her at Bradford crown court was brought by the insurers Aviva in what is believed to be the first prosecution of its kind. CCTV footage shows Ashraf “tripping” over orange juice cartons at the Al-Halal premises on Woodhead Road in the city. She falsely claimed she had suffered multiple injuries, but a civil court ruled the claim was "fundamentally dishonest". The court heard she left the store unaided and waited for eight or nine months before submitting an injury claim for about £3,000.
