North Korea confirms 15 new Covid deaths as fever cases ‘explode’
Spiralling numbers of Covid cases have led to a major medical mobilisation in North Korea. State media has confirmed 15 more deaths and says hundreds of thousands of patients are struggling with ‘high fevers.’ Yesterday, Kim Jong-un conceded the outbreak was a ‘great disaster’. The admission follows contentious claims North Korea had been ‘coronavirus-free’ during the last two years. A fever has reportedly spread through the country ‘explosively’ since April, but little has been disclosed on the exact number of positive cases. The confirmed number of fatalities in North Korea stands at 42. And according to the Korean Central News Agency, the number of people with ‘high fevers’ has now reached 820,620. The numbers of positive Covid-19 cases may have not been revealed due to the fact health chiefs lack enough testing kits, experts say. A humanitarian crisis could soon loom for North Korea if case numbers continue to accelerate at such a high rate. Kim Jong-Un blames Covid outbreak on ‘slack and immature’ officials
Kim Jong Un has lashed out at his own officials as Covid-19 continues to sweep through North korea. The hermit nation reported more than 232,000 new cases and six deaths as Omicron explodes in the unvaccinated nation . Pyongyang has referred to the illness as a ‘fever’ and likely lacks the testing capabilities to sequence tests and confirm they are caused by the coronavirus. The closed country has admitted it has seen 62 deaths and 1.7 million cases since late April, around 700,00 of whom remain in quarantine. North Korea has previously rejected international offers of vaccine aid but analysts view its unusual reporting of cases as being akin to an appeal for help. The dictator has directly criticised his own health authorities over the handling of the initial outbreak, according to state news. He is reported to have told a meeting of senior party officials that ‘immaturity in the state capacity for coping with the crisis’ are to blame, accusing them of a … [Read more...] about Kim Jong-Un blames Covid outbreak on ‘slack and immature’ officials

From Thursday, statistics will instead be given weekly at noon. Throughout the pandemic, PHW has provided daily figures for newly-infected people and those who died following a positive test. Many news outlets have already switched to collating the data on a weekly basis as the impact of the virus continues to ease. PHW said because community testing had ended, future reports would focus on broader trends such as people being treated in hospital, mortality, vaccinations and advice it provides to the health service. Two-Card Monte: Why Mastercard And Visa Rarely Shut Down Scammers Who Are Ripping Off Consumers
Paul Paolucci, the top cop for one of the world’s biggest credit card companies, sure had some interesting friends. One made a fortune fronting for pornography websites that needed access to Mastercard’s and Visa’s payment networks. Paolucci, who oversaw Mastercard’s merchant fraud control, was photographed cavorting around the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel with him and a group of women in white corset minidresses. A second was a Lamborghini-driving e-commerce mogul with whom Paolucci used to celebrate family holidays. The mogul ended up in prison for a financial crime he committed, in part, using Mastercard’s network. An executive at a famously corrupt European bank claimed to have dined with Paolucci and gotten his help evading Mastercard’s regulations. It was Paolucci’s job to make sure that the banks and companies using Mastercard’s network were playing by the rules. He bent those rules himself by getting close to the very kinds of high-risk businesses he was supposed to be … [Read more...] about Two-Card Monte: Why Mastercard And Visa Rarely Shut Down Scammers Who Are Ripping Off Consumers
‘Zardari sitting at Centre while nation is abusing PM Shehbaz, PML-N,’ says Imran Khan
GUJRANWALA: PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is "rejoicing while sitting at the Centre" while the nation is abusing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Addressing a jalsa in Gujranwala, Khan said: "Zardari is present at the Centre, ruling Sindh, making money while the people are abusing PM Shehbaz and PML-N." Berating the Sharif brothers, the PTI chairman said: "Shehbaz is asking what to do after becoming the prime minister. He said that inflation is rising and foreign exchange is tumbling. The two brothers (Shehbaz and Nawaz Sharif) are now trapped and they are wondering what to do." He said that PM Shehbaz thought he would save himself from the Federal Investigation Bureau (FIA) after becoming the prime minister and warned the PM that he will recover all the money from him and send him to jail. The former premier — while referring to the no-confidence motion that ousted him from power — said that the … [Read more...] about ‘Zardari sitting at Centre while nation is abusing PM Shehbaz, PML-N,’ says Imran Khan
Brit family travel to Brazil for dentist appointment because its cheaper than UK
A British family said they have been forced to travel to Brazil for a dentist appointment and said it's cheaper than the UK. The Woodmanseys said they travel 6,000 miles from Yorkshire just so they can get a check-up after struggling to get seen by the NHS . Stuart, 43, came up with the solution as an alternative to spending £1,000 on private treatment in the UK. Instead, the security consultant takes his wife Kedma, 41, and their son Jacob to the dentist in Kedma’s home city of São Paulo, when they are meant to be enjoying their holiday. The dad says he last had a check-up abroad just before the pandemic hit, but plans to visit during his next getaway, reports The Sun. The revelation comes after it was found that nine in 10 dental practices were unable to welcome new NHS patients. Stuart, of Market Weighton, East Yorkshire, said: “I can’t get an appointment in our area, I’ve been trying for years. "I have to go in Brazil when we’re there on holiday.” He … [Read more...] about Brit family travel to Brazil for dentist appointment because its cheaper than UK
