RISHI Sunak is preparing to extend the stamp duty holiday by three months until the end of June. The Chancellor is set to delay the cut off point for buyers to save thousands on purchasing homes with the move. The Treasury announced last year that it would temporarily raise the stamp duty threshold from £125,000 to £500,000 for property sales in England and Northern Ireland. But many people have been left scrambling to complete their transactions before the deadline of March 31, worried that if they do not, they could be left with a £15,000 tax bill. The deadline will now likely roll on until the summer. Ribena is to stop using plastic straws - saving an estimated 16 tonnes of plastic from being produced every year. While cartons of the blackcurrant drink will soon be sipped through a paper tube instead, the wrappers for the new implement will still be plastic. It comes ahead of a government ban on plastic on-pack straws attached to cartons coming into force in July. Ribena's owner, Suntory Beverage and Food GB&I (SBF GB&I), is eyeing a target of having 100% sustainable packaging by 2030. The decision to stop using plastic straws follows a trial of cartons with paper alternatives at Tesco stores, and Ribena has worked to strengthen the drinking tool for a wider rollout.
