The Nelson Festival Trust has officially launched for the Arts Festival's 25th anniversary. The trust was originally the purview of the Nelson City Council (NCC), but has now become a trust organisation which will operate independently. The trust formally took over the Arts Festival in January this year. Trust board chair Brent Thawley announced the launch of the trust's new direction on Wednesday. "This is the beginning of a journey for us," he said. Royal Mail workers have announced a 48-hour strike taking place on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1. It marks the start of 19 walk outs in total, all taking place over the course of October and November in deteriorating and long-running disputes over pay. The Communication Workers Union (CWU) confirmed the strikes earlier this year, after they were pushed back due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8. It is a worry to the UK public, with the walk outs ongoing in the run up to the Christmas period. It leaves many wondering whether or not the Post Office is open all together, as even though the two organisations are separate, they are directly tied to one-another. Vladimir Putin has railed against Western "dictatorship" as he declared Russian rule over four regions of Ukraine. It is the biggest forced occupation since the Second World War, amounting to 15% of Ukrainian territory. Russia has been "reborn and strengthened", the Russian president claimed during a ceremony at the Kremlin. Following a series of referendums described by Kyiv and the West as a "sham", Mr Putin said the people of Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Luhansk and Donetsk had "made their choice" and decided to be governed from Moscow.
