A NEW budget store is set to flood the high street within months, as Five Pound World takes over the retail spaces left vacant by Poundworld. But what is Five Pound World and how does it differ from its failing predecessor Poundworld? We take a look. What is Five Pound World? Just as the name suggests, the new Five Pound World stores will be selling all their goods for just £5. The store aims to take over all the retail spaces left empty by Poundworld, which went bust in June with the loss of 5,000 jobs and 335 stores. The discount chain is the brainchild of Dev Singh, managing director of Opium Group, a firm describing itself as "trading in various sectors all over the world." Fire fighters battled a blaze at a large log store in Bepton, near Midhurst, last night. In a series of tweets from Midhurst Fire Station, it was reported that a crew responded to a call at 9.30pm of a fire at a commercial site in Bugshill Lane.Two fire engines from the station were first on the scene, said the tweets, and arrived to find a well developed fire being driven by strong winds to a nearby building.Crews from surrounding stations in Petworth, Chichester, Arundel, Haslemere, Bordon and Bognor Regis also responded, according to the tweets.Midhurst station said a total of six engines and two water carriers, plus command support, were in attendance.The tweets said relief crews from Billingshurst, East Wittering, Bognor Regis and Lancing took over and remained at the scene until first light and were expected to be replaced by relief crews today.West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for further information. … [Read more...] about Fire fighters battle log store blaze in Bepton

COSMETICS chain Lush have sparked controversy for a new campaign accusing undercover police officers of being "paid to lie" and "spying". Let’s take a look at the bizarre campaign. What’s the Lush anti-police campaign? Known for selling bath products and "gourmet" soap, the high street chain launched the campaign yesterday - which will last until June 18 - seeking to highlight the "intrusive, abusive, political policing in the UK".
