Paddy Considine rejected an audition for Game of Thrones because it was ‘about dragons’ . The 48-year-old actor has landed the most high-profile role of his career as King Viserys in the upcoming fantasy prequel House of the Dragon but admitted he could have associated himself with George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world much earlier if he hadn’t instantly shut down the possibility. Explaining how his agent sent him a script for Game of Thrones, Paddy told the Sunday Times Culture magazine: ‘He said, “It’s about dragons.” I went, “No thanks.” I didn’t even read it.’ But Paddy isn’t upset about what could have been. He added: ‘If I couldn’t be a**ed to get myself down to an audition, that’s my luck-out.’ The actor has spoken in the past about his father being a ‘mental, physical bully’ before his death from cancer in 2006, but it was his mother that he based his portrayal of the ailing Viserys on. He said: ‘Not my father. If anything Viserys was based on my mother. … [Read more...] about House Of The Dragon star Paddy Considine previously turned down Game Of Thrones role over, erm, dragons

Dulcé Sloan’s Winning Lotto Numbers Won Late Night This Week
Photo: The Daily Show with Trevor Noah/YouTube Full Frontal With Samantha Bee announced its cancellation earlier this week, marking yet another big hole in the late-night ecosphere. Bee always brought so much heart to the news-commentary game, even working with COVID when it seemed clear Roe v. Wade was about to be overturned. Bee always let it be known she had skin in the game, and that intensity will be missed in TV. Media mergers and a possible-maybe recession has caused late night to shrinkflate. Since I started on the late-night beat, I have seen all these shows come and go: Busy Tonight, The Break With Michelle Wolf, Lights Out With David Spade, A Little Late With Lilly Singh, Conan, Unapologetic With Aisha Tyler, Desus & Mero, and now Full Frontal. And The Wendy Williams Show, which was daytime, but still, the YouTube archive is gone , and that’s sad. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain … Time to rank the best clips from late … [Read more...] about Dulcé Sloan’s Winning Lotto Numbers Won Late Night This Week

When I read that Eva Mendes was bringing back boredom for her children this summer, I could’ve jumped for joy. Because in just a few words, she confirmed what I’ve recently discovered. ‘I really feel like when we’re bored – not stimulated by a phone or an iPad or computer or television – that’s when ideas come in,’ she said, explaining that while her family had spent a few months in London while her oh-so-dreamy hubby Ryan Gosling was filming there recently, she took her children on a ‘ton of field trips’ but now they’re home, she’s decided they won’t be doing as much. Until recently, the idea of my children being bored was my biggest nightmare – mostly, I think, because of lockdown . Theo was two and a half when the pandemic struck and Immy was just five months. Stuck in a flat with no outside space, I was determined that we’d do something new every day. You know, other than just watching films. Not naturally gifted at arts and crafts, I searched YouTube … [Read more...] about I used to feel pressure to keep my kids entertained – now I think boredom is good for them
