Newcastle United's 1-0 home defeat to Brighton left them rock-bottom of the Premier League. The Magpies are crisis-hit at the best of times under Mike Ashley, but the atmosphere at St James' Park yesterday verged on the mutinous as they made their worst start to a campaign in a century. Cardiff City's win over Fulham moved the Bluebirds out of the relegation zone and piled further pressure on Toon boss Rafa Benitez. Newcastle's plight will interest Swansea City supporters, with former players Federico Fernandez and Ki Sung-Yueng now in the black and white ranks. But while the defender has generally adapted to life on Tyneside, the South Korean has barely featured - he's played just 180 minutes of top-flight football all season - and hasn't been seen on the pitch for almost two months. What on earth has happened to him? The 29-year-old has not made an appearance for Benitez since the 2-1 defeat at Manchester City on September 1, with former Swan Jonjo Shelvey and Mo Diame having … [Read more...] about What on earth has happened to Ki Sung-Yueng at Newcastle?

After they unfurled from their Volvo, they presented us with some unctuous Parma ham and a few bottles of Barolo, all of which I received eagerly. ‘Thank you so much!’ I cried, adding, ‘Such a shame we don’t have any Charentais melons, otherwise we could have this as a starter tonight!’ Even though he’d just ferried his family four hours from Primrose Hill and up our bone-shaking unmade track to reach the valley, Justin looked stricken at the thought of Parma ham sans melon. ‘No problem, I’ll run and get some,’ he said, jumping back into the driver’s seat. Then he poked his head out of the window. ‘Where’s your nearest Waitrose?’ he asked, as if there would be one in the village. I still don’t know where the … [Read more...] about What on earth’s happened to Waitrose?
BAKERY chain Greggs surprised food lovers by offering up their new range of trendy grub at a stall disguised as a “hipster” deli. Let’s take a look at the company’s latest clever marketing ploy. What is Gregory & Gregory? The high street favourite hasn’t actually changed its name. Bosses at the bakery opened an “undercover” stall - called Gregory & Gregory - to fool customers at the gourmet Foodie Festival in Syon Park in Brentford last weekend. Greggs used the marketing stunt to promote its new summer range of healthy snacks. The Foodie Festival, which is the UK’s biggest food festival, was graced with food served up at various stalls by Michelin-starred chefs as well as 2018 Masterchef winner Kenny Tutt.
