THERE was no going back for Katie McGlynn when she bid ta-ra to Coronation Street in October 2019, after six years on the cobbles. As viewers dried their tears following her harrowing exit story line, which saw her character, Sinead Osbourne, die from cervical cancer, Katie threw herself into auditions. She swiftly landed a part in BBC1 drama The Syndicate and there were promising conversations about another new show. The soap-quitting gamble, it seemed, was paying off. Then came Covid-19. With filming impossible under social-distancing rules, the television industry ground to a halt, casting a shadow over Katie’s vision for a glittering post-Corrie first year. “I put all my energy into the universe, expecting amazing big things, and then it all backfired,” says Katie, 27. “All production had to stop. Everything’s stalling, even now.” AM I GOOD ENOUGH?' Almost a year on, with very little having changed, the Rochdale-born actress admits she’s suffered a crisis of … [Read more...] about I’ve had moments where I’ve questioned whether I’m good enough’, says Katie McGlynn as she discusses life after Corrie

France: Meat-free school lunches in Lyon spark controversy
Lyon is one of France's culinary hubs. It's known throughout the country for its bouchons, or traditional restaurants, serving high-end hearty fare. But now Mayor Gregory Doucet has decided that the city's schools should only serve meatless meals during lunch breaks — a sacrilege to many in this city. Farmers from the Rhone region suspect that Doucet's political beliefs — he's a member of the Green Party — are behind the meat ban. The Greens, after all, have always been critical of conventional agriculture . Doucet's decision was met with protests by local farmers It wasn't long until representatives from two agricultural associations gathered outside Lyon's city hall to express their displeasure with the meat ban. They even brought along cows for extra effect. Local controversy splits national government The local dispute has now come to the attention of lawmakers in Paris. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin of the governing Republic on the Move party decried the … [Read more...] about France: Meat-free school lunches in Lyon spark controversy

Dancing On Ice presenter Holly Willoughby faces £10m legal battle with former agents
HOLLY Willoughby is embroiled with her former agents in a bitter legal battle worth up to £10million. The This Morning star, 40, has hired lawyers to fight demands for commission. A source said: “No one wanted this to go legal but Holly won’t simply give away her hard-fought millions without a fight.” Holly has hired top lawyers, whom she met last week, to help her hold on to her money. The presenter has been told she faces a potential seven- figure payout should YMU — whose clients include Phillip Schofield , Amanda Holden and Ant and Dec — be successful. The row centres on so-called sunset provisions by which agents collect commission from a celebrity who has left them. They would seek a cut if Holly’s contracts with shows including This Morning and Dancing On Ice are continued. A source said: “This is a sad finale to what was once a hugely successful partnership. “But YMU seem unhappy she’s set up on her own and feel entitled to maximise a sunset … [Read more...] about Dancing On Ice presenter Holly Willoughby faces £10m legal battle with former agents

The former The Only Way is Essex stars have endured a strained relationship with their father, Lee Faiers, over the years. While step dad Dave Chatwood, who is no longer with their mum, is featured heavily on their ITVBe reality series The Mummy Diaries, Lee is nowhere to be seen. It was actually Dave who proudly walked Billie down the aisle during her Maldives wedding to Greg Shepherd in May 2019. Sam and Billie refer to Dave as their 'dad', having had frosty relations with biological father Lee for many years. "From what I gather, he was a seductive bad boy who made his money as a successful market trader," Sam wrote in her tell-all autobiography titled Secrets and Lies: The Truth Behind the Headlines in 2015. When the girls were young they lived on an 18-acre farm in Upminster, Essex, after Lee's job as a market trader made him a millionaire.
