Brya Ingram Pensioner Gary Twose is hoping someone will take on the historic house as a project. A derelict cottage more than 140 years old will be demolished unless someone can offer it a home. Misty Cottage was one of the first houses built in Picton, but it has become infested with wood borer beetles, and its old roof and leaky pipes are causing its timber bones to rot. Picton pensioner Gary Twose grew up in the house on Market St and said he was devastated to learn its new owner wanted to pull it down. “It would be such a terrible shame to just put a bulldozer through it ... it’s a piece of Picton’s history,” Twose said.
