Animal rescue service legit, says founder

November 18, 2013 by www.stuff.co.nz

A man with a liking for emergency work has a new animal rescue venture despite his only qualification being an evening course. Shane Casbolt has variously popped up around the Nelson region as a volunteer firefighter, a surf lifesaver and a first aider. His role at a crash scene in 2011 was questioned after he told a reporter he was a paramedic but he later acknowledged that he was a first-aider not a paramedic. In the same year he was also convicted of impersonating an officer and sentenced to community work but the penalty was later replaced with a $1300 fine. Now he is running Nelson Animal Rescue. Its website says it is a charity organisation which provides a pet ambulance emergency response team 24/7 to help endangered or stray animals, animals in need of medical care, and a pet taxi and transport service for all animals. He told the Nelson Mail he was the co-owner and manager and had a team of six people trained in animal care and first aid including a private … [Read more...] about Animal rescue service legit, says founder

Drunk ‘idiots’ on wild boat stag party SINK 30ft barge and crash another – forcing canal to be closed

May 23, 2022 by www.thesun.co.uk

A MOB of drunk "idiots" on a stag do managed to SINK a 30ft canal boat and crash a second forcing a massive water network to shut. The slaughtered blokes wreaked so much havoc they even ended up flooding a nearby road as chaotic scenes erupted in Worcestershire on Friday. Police and fire crews were called to both incidents as the lads brought sheer carnage to the usually tranquil Droitwich Canal. Lads from the wedding party had rented three barges from ABC Boat Hire on the afternoon of May 20 for a weekend of fun in the sun. But it didn't take long before the fellas started knocking back the booze once they were onboard. Though their waterborne knees up quickly turned into carnage after the lads managed to crash their narrow boat into a terrified fellow sailor shortly after 10pm the same day. Dramatic increases in the price of electricity have blown apart the budgets at Govanhill Baths Community Trust. Like every household, it is affected by recent soaring energy costs. Clergyman defends St Mary’s Cathedral Koran reading

January 12, 2017 by www.bbc.co.uk

By Callum May Published 12 January 2017 Share close Share page Copy link About sharing The senior clergyman at a cathedral in Glasgow has defended a service at which passages from the Koran were read from the lectern. St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral has been criticised because the verses contradict Christian teaching about Jesus. The service was held on the feast of the Epiphany when western Christians mark the visit to the infant Jesus by wise men. The cathedral provost said the reading was aimed at promoting understanding between the two faiths. St Mary's invited local Muslims, who also revere Jesus as a prophet, to join the service. A student, Madinah Javed, read from the lectern in Arabic from the chapter of Maryam, or Mary. The chapter tells the story of the birth of Christ to the virgin Mary, and includes the Islamic teaching that Jesus is not the son of God and should … [Read more...] about Clergyman defends St Mary’s Cathedral Koran reading

October 20, 2016 by www.stuff.co.nz

A former Nelson stripper who prompted a St John warning about "undesirables" entering the ambulance industry is starting a free street hospital in Christchurch. Shane Casbolt, 25, launched the Lifecare Event Ambulance Service in December, offering patient transport and trained medics for events. Casbolt's colourful work history includes volunteer firefighter, surf lifesaver, first aider and "ghost buster". Casbolt ran Dominate Christchurch Male Strippers, but closed the business after it got "too busy" and he did not have enough staff. He claims to have more than 10 years of emergency services experience. He now has set his sights on running a street hospital. Casbolt told Stuff the project would start on Friday from 9pm until 3am, with their first night on the streets to be filmed.
