Swansea City remain 15th in the table following their disappointing 1-1 draw with rock bottom West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, meaning they remain firmly in the mix in the battle to avoid the drop. Jay Rodriguez gave the Baggies the lead just after half-time, only for Swansea to snatch a point courtesy of Tammy Abraham's header 15 minutes from time. There's little question that this will be seen as a missed opportunity for the Swans, who struggled to stamp any kind of authority against a side that are surely going to be playing Championship football next season. However, results elsewhere have been kind on the Swans, who actually managed to widen the gap between themselves and the drop zone as none of the teams below them were able to win. Saturday saw Stoke City fall victim to a Christian Eriksen double during a 2-1 defeat at home to Tottenham, while Crystal Palace and Huddersfield were held to draws away to Bournemouth and Brighton respectively. Meanwhile, despite a spirited … [Read more...] about Where West Brom draw leaves Swansea in PL relegation battle

If you thought people were talking about Chewbacca during Chelsea v West Brom because he was the Blues’ next ‘big man up top’ transfer target then you’d be wrong; it was because of a hashtag. Hashtags are produced for each Premier League game in the form of a combination of letters from both team names. Think #EVESWA (Everton v Swansea) or #NEWMUN (Newcastle United v Manchester United). Worked it out yet? Yes, #CHEWBA was too good an opportunity to miss for many who noticed the letters, with Chelsea getting in on the fun, too. And if you’d had a bet on the game, things only became more Star Wars-themed. Chelsea never needed to jump into hyperspace however, cruising to a 3-0 victory over the relegation-threatened Baggies with plenty in reserve. … [Read more...] about How did a hashtag get people talking about Chewbacca during Chelsea’s game against West Brom?
Register for our free newsletter Antonio Conte’s future as Chelsea boss was cast into further doubt as his 10 men were thrashed 4-1 by Watford on Monday night. The Blues, who lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth last week, were poor again at Vicarage Road and had Tiemoue Bakayoko sent off inside half an hour. Troy Deeney scored a penalty in the closing stages of the first half but Chelsea stayed in the contest and equalised through a magnificent Eden Hazard goal. The visitors were not level for long, however, as Daryl Janmaat scored his own memorable effort to put Watford back in front before Gerard Deulofeu, man of the match on his home debut, and substitute Roberto Pereyra rounded off an emphatic win with breakaway goals. Tweet of the match Star man – Deulofeu Deulofeu’s brilliant run and finish late on was no more than the forward deserved after a superb individual performance. It was his dart in behind that had earlier earned Watford their penalty, which Deeney … [Read more...] about Watford v Chelsea – story of the match
