Gary Neville has responded to Wayne Rooney's claim that the pair were among five players to control the Manchester United squad during their time at the club. Speaking to NBC this week, Rooney said players with big egos would not be allowed to have a negative impact on the team due to how the dressing room was governed. "That would never be allowed to happen," he said. "The likes of Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand, myself - players who had Man United in them and wanted the best for that club - would never allow anyone to mess that up. "We controlled the dressing room ourselves. Alex Ferguson didn't really need to control that. The players had the trust of the manager to do that themselves."
