Police said ‘shameless’ Jake Morris, 24, had ‘no place in society’ after he was caged for the shocking attack on the pensioner, who has dementia. He denied sexually assaulting her at the Leigh facility when interviewed by officers. During the court case Morris changed his plea and finally admitted his sickening crime. Morris, of no fixed abode, also pleaded guilty to burglary and assault and was jailed for six years and four months. If there's a better way to walk off the excesses of Christmas Day than with a bracing Boxing Day walk then we've yet to find it. And the good news for anyone thinking of tearing themselves away from the turkey butties and the telly, is that the weather looks like it's going to be fairly decent on Wednesday. The Met Office is predicting that it's going to be a mild ten degrees in the North West. Although it'll be cloudy it's going to be largely dry. We might even get some sunny spells, although temperatures are not expected to get above nine degrees. The weather is certainly going to be an improvement on today. Fortunately, rain isn't expected to get in the way of Christmas Day walks and temperatures could be in double figures, so there’s no need to warm yourself by the fire. Dean Hall from the Met Office recommends doing any last minute shopping on Saturday as there could be showers throughout Sunday. Here’s the breakdown of the weather forecasts over the weekend and into Christmas. Saturday Forecasters say the rain will subside in the morning and we should enjoy a mild and dry day to finish our Christmas shopping.
