LAWRENCE SMITH/Stuff Park rangers and contractors are working to reopen the Kitekite track in the wake of the kauri dieback track closures (video first published December 2018). Residents who live near a West Auckland bush track closed because of kauri dieback have been threatened with a $20,000 fine if they enter it. Auckland Council sent letters to residents of Tainui Rd and Manuka Rd on March 15 after its monitoring system showed a small group of people were continuously breaching the closure of the Clark Bush Track. The track is one of 29 closed since 2018 in an effort to reduce the risks associated with the spread of kauri dieback disease in the forest. The council said it had strong indication the culprits were locals, using the track to walk their dogs. My nightmare neighbour yells at me every time I walk my dog – it’s making me scared to leave the house

But let's be honest, having to take them on walks twice (sometimes even three!) times a day is sometimes a bit of a chore... and a stressful one at that. Well if we thought we had it hard having to dodge picnics and brave all weather conditions with our pup, spare a thought for this poor dog owner. Sharing their dilemma on Reddit , the anonymous user explained how their neighbours have started at shouting at them every time they go on a walk with their dog. They wrote: "My [Homeowners Association] has 'designated pet areas' which are little patches of grass behind the dumpsters. "In their eyes, this is the only place you can take your dog to use the bathroom." South Canterbury community calling retiring District Court Judge Joanna Maze
Retiring Judge Joanna Maze, is looking forward to losing her anonymity in the South Canterbury community she loves but has remained at arm’s length from for the past 11 years. Maze, Timaru's resident District Court judge since September 2011, finished her final court sitting on Friday with "a courtesy farewell between bench and bar" and told The Timaru Herald she made the decision to retire "when I knew that I was beginning to run out of energy ... and a sense that I wanted to have some time left still to do things for myself". "It's a job where you have to maintain a degree of separateness in your life, and that does suit my personality, and this has been a wonderful community to be part of, but I'm ready to be more part of it and that isn't entirely consistent with being a judge in a small community,’’ she said. "South Canterbury really is a delightful community. The people have good values, it is a caring community, it is an ideal size. It's more like a big village really. … [Read more...] about South Canterbury community calling retiring District Court Judge Joanna Maze

My neighbour painted her fence & made such a mess of MY side – & it’s not the first thing she’s done to p*** me off
A FURIOUS woman has told how her neighbour painted their side of the fence but made a "right mess" of her side while doing so. The anonymous woman vented her frustration on social forum Mumsnet and explained: "My next door neighbour has been out painting her fence this afternoon (one side is also the fence to my garden) and it's made a right mess of my side." The fence was originally varnished quite dark but the new paint is orangey so it really stands out." She went on to reveal that this isn't the only garden-related issue she's had with her neighbour either - adding that she's also planted trees and bushes up against their shared fence. "Unfortunately she's planted them too close and then when they've grown too big instead of moving them she's cut huge holes in the fence so they're growing into my garden," the woman continued. Travel chaos as passengers get stuck in long queues at Stansted airport & sleep on FLOOR ahead of MORE cancellations
PASSENGERS have been stuck in long queues at Stansted airport and sleep on the floor ahead of further cancellations. Weary passengers were hit by more chaos as a mix of staff shortages and strikes continue to make air travel difficult. There were also big queues to get out of the station in Essex as travellers arrived at the airport by train. It comes as airlines have until Friday to take advantage of a government “amnesty” to the rules on airport slots, allowing airlines to change schedules without facing a potential penalty. Government ministers told airlines to review their flights after the May half term chaos, which was blamed on a shortage of airline and airport staff. And Work and Pensions Secretary Therese Coffey today told Sky News: "Airports and airlines released a lot of people after the furlough scheme had come to an end.
