0 Have your say Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend has made six changes to his starting XV to face England at Twickenham in the final round of the 2019 Guinness Six Nations Championship. There are three changes apiece in the forwards and backs, with injury forcing Townsend to rejig his starting line-up. English Premiership duo Sean Maitland and Byron McGuigan come in for Blair Kinghorn and Tommy Seymour, who both sustained injuries in the 18-11 loss to Wales last weekend. They line up alongside try-scorer Darcy Graham who continues at right-wing. Sam Johnson starts at inside-centre in place of Glasgow Warriors team-mate Pete Horne for his fourth Test start of the tournament. He lines up against another Scotstoun colleague in midfield in Nick Grigg, while Ali Price and Finn Russell continue at scrum-half and fly-half respectively. In the forward division, Edinburgh lock Ben Toolis - a sub against Wales - swaps places with Warriors counterpart Jonny Gray, … [Read more...] about Scotland Six Nations: Six changes to team to face England in Calcutta Cup clash

Gareth Davies makes a first start for Wales in this season's Six Nations Championship in their crunch encounter with England at the Principality Stadium on Saturday. The Scarlets scrum-half was placed on bench duty for the wins in France and Italy, with Tomos Williams and Aled Davies preferred to kick things off. Williams is on the Welsh injured list, so Ospreys scrum-half Davies is named on the bench alongside Dan Biggar with the Northampton Saints No.10 being edged out by Gareth Anscombe. Blues pivot Anscombe and Biggar have shared tournament starts against France and Italy respectively with each coming off the bench in those games. Josh Adams, George North and Liam Williams make up the back-three while Jonathan Davies and Hadleigh Parkes are named at centre. Up front captain Alun Wyn Jones returns with the second-row talisman making his 122nd Welsh appearance. Jones will pack down with Cory Hill in the second row with Josh Navidi, Justin Tipuric and Ross Moriarty forming the … [Read more...] about The Wales team to play England
It’s two wins out of two for Wales, but to be honest, I don’t think Warren Gatland will have learned a huge amount from that win in Rome. Wales looked like a side who hadn’t played together and making so many changes didn’t really give each individual the best opportunity to shine. I thought Thomas Young had some strong moments, but I am sure he would have had many more in a stronger line-up, playing with more familiarity. It meant nobody was really able to put forward a strong case to face England in the next round, but there were a few who I would keep in there for the Cardiff clash in two weeks time. Back three Impressive in Paris, Josh Adams again showed his attacking qualities; Liam Williams was threatening, while Jonah Holmes also had a decent match. But I fully expect George North to return to the side, even though I thought he had a mixed game generally against France. Midfield I suggested in last week’s column, that Owen Watkin could replace … [Read more...] about The Wales team I believe must now be picked to play England| Graham Price
