KATIE Price spent 13 hours in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of drink driving. The former model, 40, was breath-tested after her pink Range Rover crashed into a VW Golf and a hedge on a gated estate at 2am. Concierge Patrick Sewell said: “The owner of the VW was woken by a loud bang. He said he saw a big car that looked bright pink — and wondered if he was still dreaming.” Price spent the night in a cell at Plumstead police station, South East London, before she was released via a rear exit around 3.30pm. A source said the mum of five allegedly denied being behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Price had earlier attended a boozy 30th birthday bash for her ex-boyfriend Kris Boyson at a Turkish grill in Bexleyheath. Boyson was seen getting “cosied up” at The Meze with Price, who arrived without current lover Alex Adderson, 25. Her £75,000 car was parked outside but passing police later spotted it damaged at the swanky Royal … [Read more...] about Katie Price spent 13 hours in police custody and was arrested for ‘drink driving’ after ‘crashing her pink Range Rover into a VW Golf and a HEDGE at 2am’

I have been told that diesel engines last longer (up to 200,000 miles) and that the cars are cheaper to tax and maintain, but I’m worried that they may be increasingly persecuted by emissions legislation. Can you enlighten me? PJ Diesel engines used to last longer when they were simple, but not any more. And now they are saddled with all manner of emissions-scrubbing... This was the dramatic scene after a car flipped onto its roof following a police pursuit in Stockport . Officers started tailing the red VW Golf at around 2pm on Thursday after growing suspicious of the way it was being driven, a GMP spokesman said. At first, the driver failed to stop after hitting two other vehicles on Reddish Road, Reddish, but the incident ended when the Golf crashed further down the same road, coming to rest on its roof. Two men in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of burglary. Photos from the scene shows one topless man being led to the back of a GMP van. Reddish Road was shut for a number of hours emergency crews worked the scene. The damaged vehicle was later taken away by a recovery truck. It is understood no-one was injured in the collision. A GMP spokesman said: “At a round 2pm today a short police pursuit took place with a red VW Golf due to the manner of driving. “The Golf was then involved in a collision with two other vehicles on Reddish … [Read more...] about Dramatic pictures show VW Golf on its roof after crashing in Stockport
About half way through the launch press conference for the new Kia Ceed, senior engineer Gert-Jan Teunis explained the chassis changes they’d made to the third generation of this workaday hatchback. Still the same front MacPherson struts and multi-link independent rear suspension, but with a litany of spring, damper, geometry, steering ratio and roll-bar changes as long as your arm, and so much softening at the back you’d wonder how the old car got around corners at all. These are the sorts of things that race teams do, finessing and tittivating to make a car that grips, handles predictably and inspires confidence. Under Albert Biermann, formerly of BMW, that’s what Kia is doing; more than that, in fact, since it is also creating a legend and a driving characteristic for all Kia cars in much the same way that Richard Parry-Jones’s team at Ford did for the 1993 Mondeo and the 1998 Focus. It’s part of this South Korean car maker’s master plan; to … [Read more...] about Kia Ceed review: finally a match for the VW Golf?
