Irish boyband Westlife performed their greatest hits to a packed Wembley Stadium on Saturday night, thrilling fans, The sold-out show, featuring numbers such as major 1999 hit Flying Without Wings, was part of their Wild Dreams Tour . It was the first time in the chart-topping band’s history that they have played at the famous London venue. Mark Feehily, Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan and Brian McFadden found fame with Westlife after forming in 1998. They disbanded in 2012 after 14 years of success but reunited in 2018 without McFadden – who left the band in 2004, and has since teamed up with Boyzone’s Keith Duffy . A Whanganui councillor says reporting back to council on the Whanganui port upgrade Te Pūwaha is inadequate and he’s calling for more accountability and transparency. Councillor Rob Vinsen has asked for more information on the project and its budget. “What I’m particularly interested in is what the ratepayer is paying, how it’s being accounted for, who it’s going to and whether it’s on budget. It’s very difficult to understand,” he told a meeting of Whanganui District Council this week. In particular, he questioned the cost of Te Mata Pūau, a group representing local hapū and leading community engagement for Te Pūwaha, including running inductions for workers and consultants. The man in a standoff with police in Levin has been found alive. He is in a critical condition. Smoke was seen billowing from the house as fire crews worked on a fire. Onlookers saw orange flashes followed by smoke and a burning smell about 7.30pm. About 80 people were evacuated from their nearby properties on Thursday night. They are now able to return home. The man who had been barricaded inside a Levin house since Thursday has been taken to hospital in a critical condition, after a fire broke out on Friday night. Emergency services entered the house on Bledisloe St after the fire was put out, police said. After checking the house, police have confirmed it is now safe for residents to return to their homes. The man inside the property has been taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. His dog was also found alive and was being cared for.
