A top female lawyer has spilled the beans on dealing with 'exhausted wives' and cheating spouses at her practice - including one who bedded a prostitute then used a home-equity loan to buy her a house. Heather Hostetter, of Bethesda, Maryland, is a partner at Hostetter Strent LLC and specialises in domestic relations law - from divorce and property distribution to custody and child support. But while she frequently deals with cheats and philanderers, Heather insisted these people are still human and require her understanding and 'a good plan' rather than her judgement. The shadow chancellor, John McDonnell, has called for a government investigation into the use of high-cost bank loans after a report found local councils stand to waste up to £16bn on interest payments over the next 40 years. Figures compiled by the investigative cooperative Research for Action show that local governments that were saddled with complex borrowing schemes in the early 2000s could halve their annual interest payments if those debts were paid off with cash borrowed from the government’s Public Works Loan Board (PWLB). The report explains that the top 10 council borrowers of lender option borrower option loans – knows as Lobos – stand to save as much as £4bn over the next four decades, while the 240 councils with high-interest lobo loans could collectively save up to £16n. Facebook announced on Tuesday that it will give $1 billion in grants, loans and land to help ease the affordable housing crisis in California. The social media giant said the donation will help create 20,000 new housing units to help 'essential workers', like teachers and first responders, have less commute time. The deal is done in partnership with California Governor Gavin Newsom and the State of California. The statement said, Newsom said: 'Access to more affordable housing for all families is key to addressing economic inequality and restoring social mobility in California and beyond.'
