According to a class-action lawsuit filed Monday in federal court, the Springfield woman had fallen victim to a common scam. Here's how the lawsuit describes the scheme: criminals remove security tape from the back of the gift cards, then photograph the PIN number and replace the tape with a similar-looking product. GOOGLE is profiting from tracking apps used by abusive men to spy on their partners, it is claimed. More than 3,000 apps are available on the firm’s Play Store, some with a subscription of up to £30 a month, for which Google takes a cut. The apps work by providing GPS location data, text and call logs, and access to cameras and microphones after installation. Many people have boasted on forums that the apps help them monitor girlfriends and partners, The Times reports. One such provider's advertising boasts: "Up to 90 per cent of marital affairs may include the use of a mobile phone or email.
