Netball World Cup 2019: How Commonwealth Games win fuelled revival back home
More than 100,000 fans are expected at the Netball World Cup this summer in the hope England will dominate once again. Sixteen countries will fight it out in Liverpool for the sport’s biggest prize, but most eyes will be on the home side. England beat Australia 52-51 on their home soil to take Commonwealth gold last year. Thank you, Andy Murray – you aced it
When he first appeared on the professional tennis circuit, Andy Murray was ridiculed and despised for being Scottish, dour, boring, and saying he'd support whichever football team was playing against England. The rest of the country had no time for some stroppy tartan twat who played a poncey sport usually beyond all but the wealthiest parents. And he wasn't some jerk of an overpaid footballer, taking dives and relying on 10 other men to help him win. Tennis is gladiatorial - two people in an amphitheatre, relying on skill, stamina and training to survive an individual battle that can last for hours … [Read more...] about Thank you, Andy Murray – you aced it
