URMSTON Musical Theatre has avoided paying royalties on its popular pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, by employing a team to give ideas to writer and director Ian Darke. Ian’s wife, Pamela, has helped, as have John Walker, David Mellor and his daughter, Rachel and Anita Partridge. Ian, 59, said: “We started with the basic story and added characters. I put it together and then went back to them every two or three weeks.” Ian discovered several publications which advised on writing pantomimes. He said: “One in particular, was very useful because it suggested that panto music should be a selection of older, family songs, rather than modern pop music. “For example, when the Prince and Princess get married, they are accompanied by the Prince of Denmark’s March. CAPTAIN Moe Rothwell inspired Urmston ladies’ seconds to a resounding 7-1 win against Bolton seconds in Division Three with a stellar four-goal display on Sunday. She was joined on the scoresheet by Becky Dean and Charlotte O’Toole with players’ player Becky Shepherd at the heart of a solid defensive display yet again. Goalkeeper Tamsyn Grey kept Bolton at bay with some spectacular saves when called upon and young star Isobel Seed impressed as the opposition’s player. Stacey Bell netted twice as the ladies’ firsts shared the spoils with Wrexham Glyndwr in a hard-fought 2-2 draw in Division Two South West. POLICE are searching for 72-year-old Stella who is missing from Urmston. Stella Power was last seen at 2.50pm today, Thursday 25 January 2018, at her home on Kingsway Park. She wears glasses and is described as a slim, white woman, with black shoulder length hair. It is believed that Stella is wearing a grey mid-length jacket. Sergeant Timothy Ansell of GMP’s Trafford borough, said: “As the night draws in, our search for Stella continues and we are asking for the public to help us find where she is. “If you see Stella around the Trafford area, please get in touch with police and help us reunite Stella with her loved ones, who are worried sick.” Anyone with information about Stella’s whereabouts is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference MP/16/0101625. URMSTON is to be featured on our television screens this February. A flat on flat in Prestwood close, Urmston is being used for one of the soap's characters, not to be revealed by ITV. A neighbour to the flat being used, Enda Purcell has spotted the soap's villain Pat Phelan played by Connor McIntyre. SISTER of the famous American singer Jerry Lee Lewis is to return to Urmston for another night of rock 'n' roll. Linda Gail Lewis will be playing at L.A.Crepes 'n' Drapes Rock 'n' Roll Club at John Alker Ex Service Mens Club in Flixton Road at the end of the month. The American singer and pianist attended the club two years ago and with a sell-out gig decided to return again. Harold Savage, who runs L.A.Crepes 'n' Drapes said: "We hold the Rock 'n' Roll club every month but we never have anyone as big name as Linda and who comes from so far. She came two years ago, and she just gives everyone the best time, she gives time and sits in the crowd, talking to everyone - it's unusual for someone like that. "We're all very excited, it's a great start to the year. We all have such a good time, and there's always a great atmosphere. We have a seven-year-old that comes and 80-year-olds that come - it's a great event and it keeps the club's doors open."
