Motorists flock to drive-through centres to get the Covid-19 vaccine as Boris Johnson urges TWO MILLION vulnerable Britons who are yet to receive jab to step up for the shot

· February 10, 2021 ·

Motorists roll up to have Covid jabs through their car windows yesterday – as Boris Johnson appealed to the remaining two million most vulnerable Britons to get vaccinated. Drive-through centres have been set up to help the UK meet its target of inoculating 15 million people by Monday. But while 13 million in the most vulnerable categories have had the jab, the Prime Minister warned there was still a group numbering roughly twice the population of Birmingham who had yet to receive one. He said: 'With less than a week to go until the target date of Monday the 15th, there's no doubt we've made great strides – with just over 13 million people now vaccinated in our United Kingdom, including one in four adults in England, over 90 per cent of everyone over 75 and over 90 per cent of eligible residents of care homes for the elderly.' Speaking directly to the two million vulnerable Britons yet to be vaccinated, he said: 'Now is the moment to do it.' He added: 'I think the people … [Read more...] about Motorists flock to drive-through centres to get the Covid-19 vaccine as Boris Johnson urges TWO MILLION vulnerable Britons who are yet to receive jab to step up for the shot

Hunt for the 2million unvaccinated Britons as Boris Johnson urges vulnerable people who are yet to receive jab to step up for the shot – amid warnings lockdown will stay in place even longer if large numbers remain unprotected

· February 11, 2021 ·

Ministers are hunting for the final two million vulnerable Britons who have not yet come forward for their Covid vaccine, warning that having large numbers of unprotected people could delay the easing of lockdown. The Government has made it its mission to inoculate the 15million Brits most at risk of dying from the coronavirus by Monday, which includes everyone over 70, care home residents, their carers and frontline NHS staff, as well as patients classed as clinically extremely vulnerable, such as those with terminal illnesses. But while 13million in the most vulnerable categories have had the jab, including 90 per cent of the over-70s and care home residents, the Prime Minister has warned there is still a group numbering roughly twice the population of Birmingham who had yet to receive one. Sir Patrick Vallance warned last night that lockdown-loosening plans will have to go even slower if large numbers of vulnerable people remained unvaccinated. This would mean there is … [Read more...] about Hunt for the 2million unvaccinated Britons as Boris Johnson urges vulnerable people who are yet to receive jab to step up for the shot – amid warnings lockdown will stay in place even longer if large numbers remain unprotected

Covid cases will be ‘MISSED’ at UK border: Scientists warn of rise in infections over government allowing arrivals to choose ‘less accurate’ lateral flow tests to prove they are infection-free

· January 8, 2021 ·

Coronavirus cases could be missed at Britain's border following the government's decision to let travellers choose 'less accurate' lateral flow tests to prove they're Covid-free, scientists have warned.   Those arriving in the UK will be able to present negative PCR or lateral flow Covid tests as proof that they do not have coronavirus.  Grant Shapps has said nobody will be able to depart for Britain by plane, train or ferry unless they present a 'recognised' test result at check-in along with a valid passport and visa if required. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will also adopt the measure.   PCR tests can take longer because they are sent off to a lab to check for Covid, with some critics saying 72 hours could be too tight. Rapid 'lateral flow' tests can be turned around in minutes, but missed cases and false positives are more common. The difference has sparked concerns that Covid-positive travellers could present a negative test at the border to … [Read more...] about Covid cases will be ‘MISSED’ at UK border: Scientists warn of rise in infections over government allowing arrivals to choose ‘less accurate’ lateral flow tests to prove they are infection-free

WHO whitewash: Investigators back China’s claim that AUSTRALIAN BEEF could have caused Covid-19 – and demand there be ‘no further study’ of theory that it came from a Wuhan lab

· February 9, 2021 ·

World Health Organisation scientists have given credibility to Beijing's claim the Covid-19 pandemic may have started outside China and been brought in via frozen food imports. A team of 14 scientists investigating the origin of the pandemic wrapped up their month-long fact-finding mission by echoing Communist Party's assertions that 'cold-chain products' such as Australian beef, could have led to the initial outbreak. Peter Embarek, leader of the WHO team, said further studies should be carried out into whether the virus was imported into the country - possibly on frozen meats sold at the Huanan Seafood market in Wuhan where the first cluster of cases was detected in December 2019. WHO investigators also ruled out the possibility the virus leaked from a lab, calling it 'extremely unlikely' and declaring no further study should be undertaken into the theory.
