Craig Weightman, Staffordshire University Rumour has it there is a site somewhere in New Mexico where you could once find definitive proof of ET. This hallowed ground is not Area 51 but a former landfill site that until recently contained truckloads of unsold cartridges of E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, the video game that spectacularly bombed when it was released 35 years ago in December 1982. Huge numbers of copies of this game were sent back because consumers found the game so unenjoyable. This was all that could be said for a much-anticipated movie tie-in that the designers only bothered to spend five weeks coding. It has since been dubbed the “worst video game in history” and cited as the catalyst for the 1983 US games industry crash. You’ve probably gathered this is a game legendary for its stupendous disappointment. But it is not alone. Since E.T.‘s release at the start of the home video game era, there have been many, many turgid offerings. Let us take a … [Read more...] about 35 years ago the ‘worst video game ever’ was released – are these 5 any better?

A BROTHER and sister alien hunting team have discovered a “UFO highway” across America along which hundreds of unexplained events have taken place – from cattle mutilations to alien abductions.Chuck Zukowski and Debbie Ziegelmeyer have spent years travelling across the US investigating hundreds of UFO sightings and other paranormal occurrences. It was during one cattle mutilation investigation that Chuck realised that many of the unexplained events he had looked into had taken place on the 37th latitude. He called his sister – who noticed the same with her investigations in Missouri – and the pair began researching the phenomenon, discovering that there are clusters of unexplained events taking place across the same latitude line. The pair believe that the 37th latitude line is a kind of UFO or paranormal “highway” along which extra terrestrial craft enter and exit the earth.Their theory is now the subject of a book called the 37th Parallel … [Read more...] about Brother and sister alien hunters discover ‘UFO highway’ across America – with clusters of sightings and unexplained events along same latitude
AN ANCIENT blood sucking creature with a sucker full of razor teeth for a mouth has been discovered in a British garden.Mum Rachel Kennedy had been clearing out a drain in the garden of her Brockton, Shrops, home when she discovered the "monster" in the silt. She put it in a jam jar and took it to a neighbour, who told her that the slippery creature, with a round mouth full of teeth, was a lamprey – which feeds on rotting corpses and is also known as a "vampire fish".The ancient eel-like fish was alive when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.Friend Andrew Fusek Peters rushed over with his camera and caught incredible footage of the lamprey writhing around underwater.Rachel said: "They are really weird looking things. IF YOU'RE planning a getaway to America's east coast or the Caribbean, you may want to be wary of hurricane season.Between 1 June to 30 November, the states will be hit by an average of 12 named tropical storms with winds of at least 39mph.Of these 12, an average of six sustain winds of 74mph or greater and are thus classed as hurricanes. Half of the six will usually be "major hurricanes", meaning they are at least Category 3 and will reach wind speeds of at least 111mph.While this may sound like a lot of damage, it's important to remember that not all of the storms will hit land, with many staying at sea.For example, 2010's hurricane season was the third most active ever recorded, with 19 named storms, of which 12 were hurricanes - but only one reached the US.But those that do hit land have the potential to cause major devastation, with many claiming lives. Here we look at the most deadly hurricanes in US history.Hurricane Floyd, 1999: 57 deathsFloyd, which peaked as a Category 4 … [Read more...] about 12 deadliest hurricanes to ever batter America including Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy
