What is the best thing about your job? I would have to say my clients and in general the people I work with daily, whether that be in the hotel or out on the road. I have a diverse range of clients and I’ve really enjoyed getting to understand them, their business travel needs, and challenges they face within their company. What is your proudest achievement? I went backpacking in Vietnam for a month in January of this year. I ended up going alone (much to the shock of many people) but I was determined to have an adventure and I absolutely loved the freedom to explore and covered over 2,500 miles. The weather was perfect and I had a good mix of city and beach days finished off with three nights in Dubai visiting friends. What advice would you give to someone starting in your career? Work in as many roles and departments as you can to give you the best insights possible. I graduated and went into a sales and marketing role for four years and had the opportunity to transfer to … [Read more...] about A Meeting With: Claire Davies, sales director at DoubleTree by Hilton at Newcastle Airport
Before I started working on real-world robots, I wrote about their fictional and historical ancestors. This isn’t so far removed from what I do now. These include public services, traffic, and delivery services. Long queues in hospitals and banks imply poor management. Traffic congestion demonstrates that roads and traffic systems are inadequate. Goods that we increasingly order online … [Read more...] about Robot cities: Three urban prototypes that could revolutionise our lives

THE moment your plane starts to land is always exciting – and made even more so if you’ve got amazing scenery around you when you touch down. The most spectacular airport landings in the world have officially been named – with Donegal Airport in Ireland being named as the most beautiful for landing views. PrivateFly ran a public vote, and also asked aviation experts and travel influencers for their verdict. One voter said of Donegal: “You fly in low... and sweep out over an emerald sea with the perma-white froth of the Wild Atlantic Way, lashing the many tiny rocky islands in a turquoise sea.” Another praised the “spectacular views of the Atlantic coastline, the beautiful Mount Errigal and a beach which is the most stunning in the world.” Anne Bonner, Managing Director of Donegal Airport said: “Having been voted in the top ten in the last two years we are delighted to have been voted No. 1 airport landing in 2018. “It is indeed a … [Read more...] about Most spectacular airport landing views in the world have been named
