Brexit damage: Is EU exit now hitting UK’s economy harder than COVID?
The British opposition leader Sir Keir Starmer has said there is no going back on Brexit, in a speech on Monday night. Instead, he offered a new slogan as part of a drive to ensure Britain thrives: "Make Brexit Work". "There are some who say 'we don’t need to make Brexit work — we need to reverse it'," the Labour leader told the Centre for European Reform (CER) . "I couldn’t disagree more." "Let me be very clear. Under Labour, Britain will not go back into the EU. We will not be joining the single market. We will not be joining a customs union." It represents a major policy shift for Starmer — who in the run-up to Brexit called for a deal to be put to a second referendum, and lauded the benefits of the free movement of workers, now consigned to the past. It also further distances the country's current direction from the fiery debates and deadlock in the aftermath of the 2016 referendum, with the two largest parties firmly wedded to the UK's departure from the … [Read more...] about Brexit damage: Is EU exit now hitting UK’s economy harder than COVID?

EuroMillions jackpot could make you UK’s biggest ever lottery winner with incredible £186MILLION up for grabs TONIGHT
THE UK's biggest ever lottery winner could be crowned TONIGHT with a whopping £186 million jackpot is up for grabs. Should a UK National Lottery ticket-holder walk away with the cash in the EuroMillions draw, they would topple the current British record-holders from the top spot less than two months after their win. The lucky winner would instantly become richer than singers Harry Styles, who is worth an estimated £100 million, and Adele, worth an estimated £150 million, according to the Sunday Times Rich List. The jackpot would also dwarf the £2 million prize money that awaits each of the Wimbledon winners this year - meaning they would need to win the championship 93 times to compete with Tuesday's prize. Their wealth would instantly outstrip that of Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester, who scooped a record-breaking £184 million EuroMillions jackpot less than two months ago.
