Met Office forecasters have issued an amber weather warning over heavy thunderstorms and flooding in parts of the UK today. Areas of East Anglia and Lincolnshire could face power cuts with torrential downpours also likely. It comes as Britain bakes in high temperatures with dramatic lightning strikes causing chaos on the railways and leading to a number of wildfires. Lightning has damaged at least five homes and a train station as storms broke out across the north of England today.
