Jake Paul's business partner has rubbished a suggestion by UFC president Dana White that poor ticket sales led to the cancellation of the YouTuber's fight with Hasim Rahman Jr. Paul announced last week that his Madison Square Garden showdown with Rahman Jr had been cancelled with the social media star accusing his rival of failing to attempt to make weight. Paul claimed Rahman Jr told him he would weigh in at 215lb, 10lb heavier than the updated limit. But White, and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, suggested poor ticket sales in New York were to blame for the postponement. White, 53, has been trading words with Paul, 25, ever since he ditched his internet fame to pursue a career in boxing. Sam Alvey has called out YouTube star Jake Paul for his next fight after being released from the UFC following his nine-fight winless run. Alvey, 36, fought out of his UFC contract last weekend when he was knocked out by Michal Oleksiejczuk in the first round. 'Smiling Sam' was told he would not be re-signed by the promotion after his latest fight having lost eight of his past nine bouts. During that run, Alvey has been knocked out and submitted twice. Now able to fight elsewhere, Alvey explained why he thinks a fight with YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul makes sense for him. “Every MMA fighter wants it, but now it kind of makes sense. Jake Paul has been advised to hire a new team of advisors by UFC president Dana White following the cancellation of his fight with Hasim Rahman Jr. Paul announced last night he was pulling the plug on his sixth professional fight when he claimed Rahman Jr had refused to cut any weight from his 215lb frame. The bout had initially been contracted at the cruiserweight limit of 200lb before Paul agreed to shift it up to 205lb.
