After a weekend of glorious sunshine with temperatures reaching 24C the country will be hit with days heavy rain, wind and thunderstorms. Rain began early this morning and the Met Office has warned that a jet stream will form fronts coming in from the Atlantic, bringing with it wet and stormy weather with it by the middle of the week. A Met Office spokesman said: "Unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain for most, some heavy with a risk of thunder. "Windy on Wednesday and Thursday with further rain or showers." Temperatures will be lower than last week, especially for the south east, but average for this time of year. Prince Harry received a standing ovation as he paid an emotional and poignant tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana, at the Virgin Holidays Attitude Awards, on Thursday night. Vladimir Putin has suffered from cancer, Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone has claimed. The US filmmaker was granted unprecedented access to the Kremlin leader over a two year period - meaning he knows him better than perhaps any Westerner. Stone, , whose credits include JFK and Platoon, said in a new podcast that Putin had suffered from cancer, and that he believed he had overcome it. The American jail boss who sprang her murderous 6'9" lover from prison on the day of her retirement to go on the run may have been shot dead by the con. Vicky White and Casey Cole White - who were not related - were caught on Monday in Indiana following a car chase that ended in a crash. According to initial reports, the assistant jail director shot herself while in the vehicle after 11 days on the run from her jail in Alabama, some 280 miles away. But police are now looking into whether violent White pulled the shotgun's trigger to kill her. Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said he wouldn't be "surprised" if it turned out the con had shot her.
