UNIVERSAL CREDIT AND BENEFITS Millions of people on Universal Credit and benefits will get a one-off £650 payment go up to help with soaring bills. More than eight million households will receive the lump-sum. The payments will go to everyone on means-tested benefits, including universal credit, pensions credit, housing benefit, jobseekers’ allowance and income support. A survey of 2,000 adults has identified what Brits think are the top 20 sitting room trends of 2022 – which include real wood flooring, log burners, statement rugs, luxury candles, and potted plants. Brits have also voted the “snug” style living room to be old-fashioned, and would rather opt for an open-plan space. And while 44% of Brits feel their living room is on trend, many are keen to continue updating their space – with a new sofa, flooring, and a lick of paint among the most desired modifications they’d like to make. BBC plans to stop broadcasting CBBC, BBC Four and Radio 4 Extra
The BBC will stop broadcasting CBBC and BBC Four as linear channels at some point in the next few years as it aims to rebuild for the "digital age", the corporation has announced. In a speech to staff this afternoon, director-general Tim Davie said the BBC must reform to stay relevant and continue to provide great value for all. They said there were "plans to stop broadcasting smaller linear channels, such as CBBC and BBC Four and Radio 4 Extra, after the next few years". Mr Davie said: "This is our moment to build a digital-first BBC. Something genuinely new, a Reithian organisation for the digital age, a positive force for the UK and the world."
