Customers of failed funeral firm Safe Hands warned they will lose 90% of their cash

May 23, 2022 by www.mirror.co.uk

Customers who lost money to failed funeral firm Safe Hands have been told they will lose up to 90% of their cash. Safe Hands sold pre-pay funeral plans, but collapsed into administration in March - leaving 45,000 customers in the lurch. These plans let people pay off a funeral or cremation in instalments. The idea behind the deals is to give peace of mind that the high costs of a funeral have been dealt with before someone passes away. Have you been affected by the collapse of Safe Hands? Message [email protected] But when Safe Hands collapsed the exact opposite happened, as customers lost their funeral as well as most of their money. Safe Hands customers paid £3,000 on average for a funeral plan, but have just been told to expect back no more than £300 to £600 and to seek a new plan. That is because the administrators think there will not be enough cash in the business to repay everyone. Unfortunately, customers who lost money are … [Read more...] about Customers of failed funeral firm Safe Hands warned they will lose 90% of their cash

Top 20 sitting room trends for 2022 – including open plan rather than ‘snug’

May 26, 2022 by www.dailystar.co.uk

Three-piece suites, drinks trolleys, and inspirational wall quotes no longer feature in the nation’s most stylish living rooms – and have been replaced by corner sofas, sustainable furniture, and smart tech. A survey of 2,000 adults has identified what Brits think are the top 20 sitting room trends of 2022 – which include real wood flooring, log burners, statement rugs, luxury candles, and potted plants. Brits have also voted the “snug” style living room to be old-fashioned, and would rather opt for an open-plan space. And while 44% of Brits feel their living room is on trend, many are keen to continue updating their space – with a new sofa, flooring, and a lick of paint among the most desired modifications they’d like to make. The study into the living room trends of the nation was commissioned by Sky Glass, the new streaming TV service from Sky, which has been designed to reflect people’s home entertainment needs. It also uncovered the nation’s living room … [Read more...] about Top 20 sitting room trends for 2022 – including open plan rather than ‘snug’

In just a matter of weeks the villa will be crammed with attractive singletons and bosses are determined to see more hook ups. Speaking about the upcoming series, Iain told new! BBC plans to stop broadcasting CBBC, BBC Four and Radio 4 Extra

May 26, 2022 by news.sky.com

The BBC will stop broadcasting CBBC and BBC Four as linear channels at some point in the next few years as it aims to rebuild for the "digital age", the corporation has announced. In a speech to staff this afternoon, director-general Tim Davie said the BBC must reform to stay relevant and continue to provide great value for all. They said there were "plans to stop broadcasting smaller linear channels, such as CBBC and BBC Four and Radio 4 Extra, after the next few years". Mr Davie said: "This is our moment to build a digital-first BBC. Something genuinely new, a Reithian organisation for the digital age, a positive force for the UK and the world." Under the plans, the BBC News and BBC World News channels will merge to create a single 24-hour TV news channel serving both UK and international audiences. Beat The Chasers finale sees contestant triumph against five quizzers with £60k win

May 20, 2022 by www.mirror.co.uk

Friday's finale of ITV's Beat The Chasers left viewers thrilled, as contestant Brendan won a whopping £60,000 on the show. The final contestant of the current series took on five of the six Chasers and won. He'd secured £3,000 in the cash builder, and was offered the option to play for this amount, or a higher amount. But the higher he went, and the more Chasers he faced, meant he had less of a time advantage against the Chasers. Mark Labbett, AKA The Beast, tempted Brendan by adding £30,000 on to the previous offer of a £30k prize fund, bringing the total to £60k if he faced him, and four other quizzers. Brendan felt he had nothing to lose, saying he was "only here once" as he decided to play for the highest amount on the table. Beat The Chasers' final contestant of the series won £60,000 after taking a gamble ( Image: ITV) It was a decent clock offer too, with 44 seconds on their clock and 60 seconds on Brendan's, giving the player a 16 second advantage.
