Bemused man stunned after spotting ‘FLOATING’ boat off Aberdeenshire coast
A BEMUSED man has captured an amazing optical illusion showing a large boat appearing to float across the sky. Colin McCallum spotted the red "floating vessel" on the horizon as he travelled through Banff, Aberdeenshire on Friday. Due to the similar colouring of the sea and sky, the large vessel appears to be sitting amongst the clouds. The keel of the ship is out of view and, teamed up with the low-lying clouds, it appears difficult to see where the water ends and the clear blue skies begin. Shocked by the sighting, Colin filmed the illusion in motion as he passed by. Viral ‘spinning house’ optical illusion leaves people stumped – so can YOU work it out? The health and safety worker from Turriff, Aberdeenshire, shared the clip and his images onto Facebook later on that day, writing: "Saw a real life optical illusion in Banff today.” Subsequent pictures also captured by Colin show the boat high amongst the clouds. Colin captioned over his video: “Floating … [Read more...] about Bemused man stunned after spotting ‘FLOATING’ boat off Aberdeenshire coast
Manchester Arena inquiry: Firefighters were ‘in tears’ after failing to attend 2017 bombing which killed 22
Firefighters were in tears and turned their backs on a senior commander at a debrief as they sought answers from senior officers about why they had not been deployed to the scene of the Manchester Arena attack, the inquiry has heard. The inquiry was told that a tearful paramedic approached firefighters and asked why they were "just stood around" at a fire station a mile from the attack . Group Manager Alan Topping, duty command support officer on the night of the attack, told the inquiry that firefighters were ashamed and emotional in the aftermath of the attack in which the service did not arrive at the scene until two hours after the explosion. The officer, who had 29 years of experience, is the first who was present on the ground to give evidence to the inquiry and said that by the time firefighters arrived it was too late to help. John Cooper QC, for the victims' families, asked about a "hot" debrief soon after the attack with Assistant Chief Fire Officer Geoff … [Read more...] about Manchester Arena inquiry: Firefighters were ‘in tears’ after failing to attend 2017 bombing which killed 22
Boris Johnson ‘setting up a charity’ to fund lavish refurb of his Downing Street flat
Boris Johnson is trying to set up a charity to help fund a luxurious revamp of his grace-and-favour flat, it was claimed today. The Prime Minister faces questions over works overseen by his fiancee Carrie Symonds in the plush, four-bed living space above No11. The 32-year-old has removed Theresa May ’s “John Lewis furniture nightmare” and paintings by British artist John Nash hang alongside works by the PM himself, according to an article in Tatler. The Cabinet Office will be forced to publish any taxpayer spending on the project in its annual accounts this summer. But today No10 refused to deny reports that the Prime Minister, 56, wants to fund the some of refurb through donations - after being told he could only claim around £30,000 from the state. The Daily Mail reported Mr Johnson had privately complained the cost was “totally out of control” and amounted to “tens and tens of thousands”, which he would struggle to afford after an expensive divorce from ex-wife Marina … [Read more...] about Boris Johnson ‘setting up a charity’ to fund lavish refurb of his Downing Street flat
McFly confirm tour has been postponed for third time due to coronavirus pandemic
McFly have had to move their first big tour in the UK in five years again for the third time, due to the coronavirus pandemic. While the boys did play some comeback dates in November 2019, their Young Dumb Thrills tour in the UK did not go ahead - following their first album release in 10 years. Dougie Poynter, Danny Jones, Tom Fletcher and Harry Judd were set to embark on a brand new tour in April 2020 but were forced to postpone due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, lockdown remains in place across the UK - despite Prime Minister Boris Johnson now revealing his plan to exit Covid lockdown. He revealed some key dates as restrictions start to lift, with it hoped that by June 21 social distancing will not be in place or at least as much as it is now. This date of June 21 has given hospitality and other areas room to see when a more normal event is more likely to be doable and safe. That goes for gigs too, as it's hoped later in the year people can enjoy them … [Read more...] about McFly confirm tour has been postponed for third time due to coronavirus pandemic
