William Cummings USA TODAY Published 7:45 AM EDT Oct 8, 2018 WASHINGTON – Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is not ruling out a third Supreme Court seat being filled by President Donald Trump – even if a vacancy does not open up until 2020. Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace expressed surprise that McConnell would allow a 2020 nomination to go through because the Republican leader refused to consider President Barack Obama's nominee, Merrick Garland, after former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died in February 2016. At the time, McConnell argued that the vacancy should not be filled in an election year. But when asked on Sunday, McConnell pointed to history and precedent. "Maybe I have this wrong, but when you blocked Merrick Garland's nomination from President Obama you basically said we don't do this in a presidential election year and that we wait until the election," Wallace said. The Trump Prophecy film propagates theory God had Trump elected
A film playing in more than 1000 US cinemas claims to be based on the "actual events" of a man being told directly by God that Donald Trump would win the 2016 presidential election. Mark Taylor, the former firefighter whose divine claims the film is based on, also claims God has told him Barack Obama will be charged with treason and that Trump will instigate the arrest of "thousands of corrupt officials, many of whom are part of a massive satanic paedophile ring". He also claims God says the former Celebrity Apprentice host will unlock the cures for cancer and Alzheimer's. Russian-US tycoon boasted of ‘active’ involvement in Trump election campaign
A Russian-American businessman who donated a substantial sum to Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential election effort boasted to a senior figure in Moscow that he was “actively involved” in the Republican candidate’s campaign, the Guardian can reveal. Simon Kukes said he was helping Trump with “strategy development” and shared photos of his 29-year-old Russian girlfriend posing with the future president. Kukes made the claims to Vyacheslav Pavlovsky, a career Kremlin official and former ambassador to Norway. Pavlovsky is currently vice-president of Russian Railways. The disclosure raises questions about the role played by Kukes in the run-up to the election and what information, if anything, was being relayed by him to his associates in Russia. Kukes’s donations began two weeks after the meeting at Trump Tower in June 2016, when Donald Trump Jr, Paul Manafort, and Jared Kushner discussed “dirt” on Hillary Clinton with a Russian lawyer. … [Read more...] about Russian-US tycoon boasted of ‘active’ involvement in Trump election campaign
Iowa worker fired for disparaging Mexicans cites Trump election, says she should get unemployment
Clark Kauffman Des Moines Register Published 12:30 p.m. UTC Aug 16, 2018 DES MOINES, Iowa – An Iowa woman fired for disparaging Mexicans at work cannot collect unemployment despite her testimony that other employees also made derogatory comments about "blacks and foreigners" since Donald Trump became president. Angela Diers filed for unemployment after she lost her job at Dexter Laundry, a Fairfield manufacturer of commercial washers and dryers, for telling a co-worker that she hated Mexicans. Iowa's Employment Appeals Board ruled that Diers' statements clearly met the definition of misconduct and disqualified her from collecting unemployment benefits. The board reversed Administrative Law Judge Beth Scheetz, who said Diers deserved unemployment benefits. Scheetz had ruled that "since President Trump’s election, it was common for workers" at the plant to talk of hating African Americans and foreigners. The company couldn't single out Diers for misconduct, … [Read more...] about Iowa worker fired for disparaging Mexicans cites Trump election, says she should get unemployment
