Trump blames video games

Overkill is ‘most profane game ever’

March 17, 2009 by www.independent.co.uk

An "outrageously crude" computer programme has entered record books as the most profane video game ever. The recently released House Of The Dead: Overkill, which has an 18 certificate, features the word "f***" more than once every minute played, a Guinness World Records spokesman said. During three hours of "relatively limited" dialogue, the game features 189 uses of the expletive, equating to 3% of all words spoken in the game, researchers found. Gaz Deaves, from Guinness World Records, said: "It's a mark of the times. This record category pre-existed for movies, music and television, but The House Of The Dead: Overkill is the first video game to be awarded the title in the gamer's edition." Jonathan Burroughs, the game's writer, said: "It is a dubious honour to receive such an accolade working in an industry where so often the fruits of your labours are derided and dismissed for being puerile or irresponsible. "But in the case of 'The House Of The Dead: Overkill', … [Read more...] about Overkill is ‘most profane game ever’

Lincoln Project turns Trump’s Regeneron praise into cheesy 80s-style infomercial

October 9, 2020 by www.newsweek.com

The Lincoln Project has mocked President Donald Trump 's recent praise for Regeneron with a new video depicting him as a TV salesman hawking a product in a commercial. The conservative group, which opposes Trump's re-election, posted the video on Twitter on Thursday. It uses footage from the president's own recent video and editing that makes the footage look like a VHS tape recording from the 1980s or 1990s. "REGENERON!" the Lincoln Project tweeted. The video is a parody infomercial that uses jaunty music and garish graphics to suggest Trump is advertising a miracle cure for COVID-19. The video opens with an old fashioned screen and the word 'Play' in a font that will be familiar to anyone who used VHS. "Perhaps you recognize me, it's your favorite president, Donald Trump," Trump says before a diamond wipe transition effect. "I got back a day ago from Walter Reed medical center," Trump says. "I went in, I wasn't feeling so hot, and within a very short period of time they … [Read more...] about Lincoln Project turns Trump’s Regeneron praise into cheesy 80s-style infomercial

Lincoln Project won’t pull anti-Trump ads, vows to “defeat Trumpism” after president’s COVID diagnosis

October 2, 2020 by www.newsweek.com

Democratic nominee Joe Biden is taking down attack campaign ads in the wake of President Donald Trump 's COVID-19 diagnosis, but the Lincoln Project won't be following suit. "Our ads will stay up," Lincoln Project's senior communications adviser Ryan Wiggins told Newsweek Friday evening. "We will continue to prosecute the campaign against a Trump second term and work to defeat the republicans senators who enable him." Wiggins said the political action committee's upcoming ads will focus "both" on policy issues and Trump's character. "We will defeat Trump and Trumpism (and its adherents) at the ballot box next month," she said. Their decision comes after Biden's campaign told the Associated Press that they would remove negative ads about Trump in the wake of his diagnosis. But Trump's campaign have already suggested that they won't return the favor . The Lincoln Project is a conservative group opposed to Trump's presidency and re-election. They have released countless … [Read more...] about Lincoln Project won’t pull anti-Trump ads, vows to “defeat Trumpism” after president’s COVID diagnosis

PS Plus Premium to add trophies for retro PlayStation games

May 20, 2022 by metro.co.uk

Syphon Filter, of all things, is getting trophy support on PS Plus, and other retro games are expected to follow. Between the seemingly random drops of information and often vague wording, Sony’s handling of its revamped PlayStation Plus service has been very weird so far. This time, the latest official news on the service – trophy support for retro PlayStation games – doesn’t even come from Sony itself, but Bend Studio. The Days Gone studio revealed the information over Twitter, where it confirmed that its PlayStation 1 stealth game Syphon Filter will have trophies you can unlock, including a platinum one. No other retro games have been confirmed to include trophy support yet but it’s safe to assume at least some of them will, given Syphon Filter is hardly the jewel of Sony’s retro line-up. While some games from the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable have been re-released on modern platforms, they’ve never received trophy support … [Read more...] about PS Plus Premium to add trophies for retro PlayStation games

Georgia primary pits Pence-endorsed Brian Kemp against Trump-backed David Perdue

May 23, 2022 by www.cbsnews.com

Voters in five states are heading to the polls for primaries on Tuesday, but the key races to watch are in the battleground state of Georgia. Since the 2020 election , former President Donald Trump has been eager to oust Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger for blocking efforts to overturn the 2020 election in the state. Voters will also decide on incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock's Republican opponent in one of the key U.S. Senate races. Here are the major races to watch: Georgia governor Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has been one of Trump's top GOP targets since the former president lost the 2020 election. Trump blamed Kemp for not doing enough to help the efforts to change the outcome in Georgia, and on the eve of two key Senate runoff elections in January 2021, pledged to seek revenge. "I'm going to be in a year and a half and I'm going to be campaigning against your governor and your crazy secretary of state," Trump … [Read more...] about Georgia primary pits Pence-endorsed Brian Kemp against Trump-backed David Perdue

Donald Trump links Democrats to socialist, communist regimes in Bay of Pigs address

September 23, 2020 by www.newsweek.com

President Donald Trump, during an event to honor veterans of the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba, linked the Democratic Party to socialist regimes abroad and to nationwide protests over police brutality and racial injustice. "The courageous veterans here today bear witness to how socialism, radical mobs and violent communists ruin a nation," the president said. "Now the Democrat Party is unleashing socialism right within our own beautiful country." Trump even went a step further, asserting that the actions of those on the left may start to rise to the level of communism, and blamed the press for supporting it. "Today we proclaim that America will never be a socialist or communist country. I'm going to add that word, communist," the president said. "I've never added that word but I think it's appropriate when you look at the kind of ideology we're also facing. When you see the rioters, looters, anarchists and then you see the press, the media play right into their hands." U.S. officials inform Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump of Russia election meddling on their behalf: Report

February 21, 2020 by www.newsweek.com

U.S. officials told Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and President Donald Trump that Russia is meddling in the 2020 presidential election by helping their campaigns, according to new reports. Sanders was informed last month, while Trump was informed last week of Russian attempts to boost their campaigns, sources familiar with the matter told The Washington Post and the Associated Press . The sources requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the intelligence. Trump has publicly denied the report, and blamed Democrats of pushing a "hoax." "Another misinformation campaign is being launched by Democrats in Congress saying that Russia prefers me to any of the Do Nothing Democrat candidates who still have been unable to, after two weeks, count their votes in Iowa. Hoax number 7!" Trump tweeted Friday morning. Sanders, however, has previously warned of election interference. In January, he said, "Let me be clear: We must not live in denial while allowing Russia and other … [Read more...] about U.S. officials inform Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump of Russia election meddling on their behalf: Report

A weeping Kim Jong Un may hand Donald Trump an unexpected pre-election diplomatic triumph

October 13, 2020 by www.newsweek.com

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was seen shedding tears and apologizing to his people Saturday for not creating a better economy, prompting many observers to say the rare show of emotion is a signal the tough Trump administration sanctions have worked. Video emerged Saturday showing Kim crying during a military parade speech he made to mark the 75th anniversary of the ruling Worker's Party. Kim wiped away tears as he addressed thousands of troops and weeping citizens in Pyongyang. He announced he was "ashamed" of not being able to repay his people with economic prosperity. U.S. President Donald Trump is credited with imposing tough sanctions on the country and convincing China, North Korea's closest ally, to participate in a long-term strategy to force North Korea into denuclearization negotiations. Talks focused on total nuclear disarmament broke down entirely in early 2019, but some U.S. officials say North Korea's economic woes could leave Kim no other choice but to give in … [Read more...] about A weeping Kim Jong Un may hand Donald Trump an unexpected pre-election diplomatic triumph

Kellyanne Conway calls Sanders nomination “payback” from Trump administration for impeachment proceedings

February 24, 2020 by www.newsweek.com

Kellyanne Conway, who serves as counselor to President Donald Trump, referred to the potential Democratic presidential nomination of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders as "payback" from Trump to Democrats who participated in the impeachment proceedings on Fox News Monday. Conway's comment came during a discussion of Trump's perceived retaliation against his political rivals, including the alleged existence of a so-called "hit list" of people with White House positions who do not fully support Trump's agenda. Since his acquittal on impeachment charges, Trump has relieved Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman and former Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland from their positions. Both Vindman and Sondland testified in the impeachment hearings about alleged improprieties during a telephone call between Trump and Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskiy in which Trump allegedly asked Zelenskiy to announce an investigation into the business dealings of former Vice President Joe Biden … [Read more...] about Kellyanne Conway calls Sanders nomination “payback” from Trump administration for impeachment proceedings
