Kate Moss has broken her silence on her part in Johnny Depp 's libel trial against Amber Heard and claimed that she 'had to say the truth.' The 48-year-old supermodel appeared as a witness in her ex-partner's multimillion-dollar US lawsuit against Heard, 36, after the Aquaman actress mentioned a rumour Kate was once pushed down the stairs by Depp while the two were in a relationship. Depp won the lawsuit against Heard last month after a jury ruled her 2018 article in the Washington Post was defamatory. During her appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Moss was asked about her defence of Depp by presenter Lauren Laverne. Kate told the host: “I know the truth about Johnny. I know he never kicked me down the stairs. "I had to say that truth," she added. Amber Heard has officially filed to appeal the verdict of her defamation case against ex-husband Johnny Depp. It has been a week since a judge rejected the 36-year-old actress' demand for a new trial, which came nearly two months after she was ordered to pay Depp, 59, more than $10million in damages. On Thursday, Amber filed notice that she will appeal the civil case in Fairfax County, Virginia, DailyMail.com has reported that the court documents state. A spokesperson for Amber Heard has told The Mirror the reasons why the appeal has been filed. They said: "We believe the court made errors that prevented a just and fair verdict consistent with the First Amendment. "We are therefore appealing the verdict. While we realise today's filing will ignite the Twitter bonfires, there are steps we need to take to ensure both fairness and justice." Photo-Illustration: Dakarai Akil; Photos: Getty Shortly after the deaths of two aspiring rappers earlier this year, New York City Mayor Eric Adams appeared to take a hard line against drill rap, stressing in a February speech that social media companies should pull the genre’s displays of gun violence from their apps, comparing the removal to Trump’s Twitter suspension. His words sparked backlash, as they not only seemed to toy with the idea of censorship but also evoked the language of authorities’ long-standing moral panic over music created by Black and brown artists. The city’s official tone on drill might have shifted, but the fact remains that the discourse amongst some authorities surrounding the subgenre seems … [Read more...] about What Happens When Drill and the Justice System Clash in the Courtroom?
