Photograph: TONY GARNETT Archant Flempton scored an impressive Stenson Shield second round victory over a strong Gorleston team by seven and a half matches to four and a half. They achieved this notable result despite their Suffolk Open champion, Alfie Halil, being in Kent in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters. Yet it was players like James Hurst, who held Western to a half, and the return of Mark Rea to competitive golf that laid the foundation for this success. Now Flempton must visit Woodbridge, last season’s losing finalists, who had too much strength in depth for Halesworth. … [Read more...] about Stenson Shield second round report and results

Hamilton boss Martin Canning made four changes to the side that lost against St Johnstone, with Charlie Scott, Ronan Hughes, Mickel Miller and Antonio Rojano in for Ross Jenkins, Danny Redmond, David Templeton and Marios Ogmpoe. Scott and Miller made their first starts. Perhaps with an eye on the Scottish Cup final next week, Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson made EIGHT changes, with goalkeeper Russell Griffiths replacing Trevor Carson and Richard Tait, Gael Bigirimana, Liam Grimshaw, Ross MacLean, … [Read more...] about Hamilton lose but do enough to secure Premiership survival
