Leeds United have been dealt an injury blow ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Nottingham Forest in their first outing of 2019. Striker Patrick Bamford has been ruled out of the game at the City Ground against his former club, after failing to recover from a knee injury picked up in training. Bamford, who moved to Elland Road from Middlesbrough in the summer for an initial £7m, had been out with a knee problem sustained earlier in the season, but returned to Marcelo Bielsa’s side and scored the winner at Bolton earlier this month. Prior to the dramatic late win at Aston Villa, Bamford suffered a separate knee issue which kept him out of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at home to struggling Hull, and the two previous fixtures before that. What strikes do I have to watch out for? Workers on the South Western Railway will strike on New Year's Eve after a long-running dispute over guards on trains. The Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) announced strike action for Monday, December 31. South Western has announced reduced service across the network, and services will stop on some lines. Pubs in Lancaster and Morecambe are being advised to employ security and use plastic glasses due to a “high risk” football match on New Year’s Day. On January 1, Morecambe play Carlisle at 3pm in the league at The Globe Arena. Lancaster Police’s licensing officer has issued instructions to pubs that the game is a “CAT A-High Risk match”, and that there will be a police operation in place on the day.The Carlisle supporters are understood to be travelling to Lancaster prior to the game with the first trains coming in at 10.30am, and are expected to attend pubs prior to the match.Pubs and venues are instructed to inform Lancaster Police if they will be trading on New Years Day and what times they are opening and closing.
