Tottenham in talks to sell both Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele to Villarreal
Tottenham are reportedly aiming to sell both Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele to Villarreal before the summer transfer window closes. According to Fabrizio Romano , the two clubs are close to a deal for Lo Celso, who spent the second-half of last season on loan at the La Liga side, while the possibility of Ndombele also moving to Spain is being discussed. Both deals are said to be on loan only however, although there will be buy option clauses that could become mandatory if performance-related targets are met. It is not known how much these buy out clauses could be worth but it is unlikely that Spurs will make back the combined £83million that was spent on the two players. Both midfielders moved to Tottenham in the summer of 2019 but have struggled to establish themselves under the club’s various managers in that time, including Mauricio Pochettino , Jose Mourinho , Nuno Espirito Santo, and the current boss Antonio Conte . Tottenham striker and England captain Harry Kane takes on six-hitting challenge at The Hundred
Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane swapped his football boots for a cricket bat as he took part in a six-hitting challenge before a Hundred match at Lord’s. Kane took on Spurs team-mate Matt Doherty in the challenge as the pair tried their best to clear the ropes ahead of London Spirit’s clash with Manchester Originals. Former England captain and Sky Sports pundit Nasser Hussain was on hand to offer technical advice but the pair did not look too out of place at the makeshift crease. Kane and Doherty are both cricket lovers and met London Spirit captain Eoin Morgan and Manchester Originals skipper Jos Buttler before the challenge. Tottenham legend Kane then performed the toss, with Spirit posting 160-6 after electing to bat first. England opener Zak Crawley made 41 and West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard smashed four sixes in his 11-ball 34. Fans fight in stands and against owners – but players lack ‘belief’ on pitch, says Erik ten Hag
Erik ten Hag claimed Manchester United are lacking in “belief” and blamed the problems of last season as they slumped to a shocking opening weekend 2-1 defeat at home to Brighton & Hove Albion . In an, at times, febrile atmosphere at Old Trafford there were protests against the Glazer ownership of the club prior to kick-off with United’s Mega Store forced to close as 1,000 fans gathered outside to express their frustration. To compound United’s misery their bitter rivals and champions Manchester City were imperious as they swept West Ham United aside with an impressive 2-0 victory away from home and with new signing Erling Haaland – who turned down United – outstanding as he scored both goals on his debut. The protests at Old Trafford took place in front of Avram Glazer with the executive co-chairman making a rare appearance – he is less visible than his brother Joel - as he sat in the directors’ box and listened to chants for his family to sell up. It was only the third … [Read more...] about Fans fight in stands and against owners – but players lack ‘belief’ on pitch, says Erik ten Hag
Liverpool’s midfield conundrum may force Jurgen Klopp back into transfer market
Jürgen Klopp knew the question was coming. The Liverpool manager has spent much of this summer explaining why he does not want to sign a midfielder, but the debate rumbles on whether he likes it or not. Especially following an injury to Thiago Alcantara, who limped out of Saturday’s disappointing draw at Fulham with a muscle problem. “I know what will come up now,” said Klopp after the match. “It is clear. We said we don’t need a midfielder because we have enough — and we actually have enough, but the problem now is we get punished for something that is not our responsibility, really, because things like this can happen.” The “punishment” to which Klopp refers is the series of injuries affecting his midfield. Thiago joins Naby Keïta (ill), Curtis Jones (calf) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (hamstring) on the sidelines, leaving Liverpool uncomfortably short in the heart of the pitch. To be clear, this is not necessarily a long-term issue – Keïta will be back within days, while … [Read more...] about Liverpool’s midfield conundrum may force Jurgen Klopp back into transfer market

Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua gets ‘green light’ regardless of Usyk fight result
Deontay Wilder is set to get a chance to fight Anthony Joshua - whether or not the Brit can claim a victory against Oleksandr Usyk or not. AJ will face the Ukrainian on 20 August in Saudi Arabia and has some way to repair his reputation after being dominated in their first fight. Joshua will get the chance to win back his WBA, IBF and WBO belts that he lost back on 25 September 2021 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, another defeat to Usyk could be detrimental to the Brit's career - having also lost to Andy Ruiz Jr that could make it three professional losses. That could have a massive impact on AJ's future attempts to fight for the belts while also affecting his legacy.
