THE Met Office has issued a severe flood warning as torrential rain and fierce winds are set to batter the country. Forecasters have also warned that Christmas decorations could become dangerous projectiles in the stormy weather and homeowners should secure ornaments as wind speeds pick up. With its yellow warning for wind, which is in place for Tuesday, the Met Office said: "Very strong winds are expected during Tuesday and may cause some disruption." The warning was issued amid worries of public transport being affected, as delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely. YELLOW WARNING Some bus and train services are also set to be affected, with some journeys taking longer, made worse by spray and surface water, as well as delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are likely. Anthony Joshua survived a desert storm to wrest back his world heavyweight titles with a unanimous points win over Andy Ruiz Jr at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arena. Joshua stuck to his back-foot game plan to pick off a clear 118-110 (twice), 119-109 verdict in a bout that boasted little of the five-knockdown drama which saw him lose to Ruiz in June. More than 15,000 homes have been left without power as the UK is battered by 96mph winds during Storm Atiyah. Across the South West and part of Wales, an estimated 5,500 homes were cut off as gusts brought down power cables. In Wales, massive electricity faults were reported in Caerphilly, Ceredigion, Gwynedd, Pembrokeshire, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taff and Swansea. Western Power Distribution said it had restored power to about half those hit by power cuts overnight in Wales - with just under 700 homes without power at 07:00am. Elsewhere, around 1,400 homes were cut off in the Camborne area of Cornwall and 100 properties were without power near Exeter, Devon. Christmas lights in the popular Cornish seaside village of Port Isaac were knocked out and other decorations ripped homes. In the north Cornwall town of Bude, the roof of a Sainsbury's was partly blown off by the high winds.
