THIS weekend saw the 72nd Tony Awards take place at Radio City Hall in New York. It was hosted by Josh Grobin and Sara Bareilles - here's a list of the winners and some highlights from America's top theatre gongs. Glenda Jackson - Best Performance by a Lead Actress (play) The 82-year-old British actress took home the award for best actress for her turn in Edward Albee's Three Tall Women. It was her third role after a 25-year break from the stage. Glenda, a former Labour politician, also has two Academy Awards under her belt as well as an Emmy and another Tony. Three Tall Women is a 1994 Pulitzer-winning play following the journeys of three women, A, B and C - all variations of the same person during different times in her life. The 2018 UK and Ireland Tour of the Old Vic production of Yasmina Reza’s Olivier, Tony and Moliere award-winning comedy ART can be seen at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal from April 30-May 5. The production will star Nigel Havers, Denis Lawson and Stephen Tompkinson as Serge, Marc and Ivan respectively.
