Tom Cruise was mobbed as he rocked up to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration, walking through Windsor to the big event. The Top Gun star is taking a leading role alongside the likes of Dame Helen Mirren in the celebration, which is being broadcast on ITV, While his role has been kept under wraps, Tom, 59, made quite the entrance, wandering through Windsor and being surrounded by fans. The star rocked a casual look, smiling away as he enjoyed the atmosphere. Most people seem to have missed the biggest political story of the last couple of days: that Sadiq Khan has given up any ambition to become prime minister. Of course, this is more implicit than explicit, but his actions and words can hardly be mistaken for anything other than a renunciation of what most of us assumed was his former determination to “do a Boris”. Khan, like Boris Johnson, is one of his generation’s most ambitious politicians. If he genuinely never intended to use City Hall as a stepping stone to the leadership of his own party and then to Downing Street, then I am happy to stand corrected and to apologise for this grave calumny against him. THE Little Mix girls wept between songs as they geared up for their final tour performance before taking a hiatus. Leigh-Anne Pinnock , Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall brought the house down during their penultimate gig at London’s O2 Arena.
