An attempted murder investigation has been launched by detectives after a woman in her 60s was found with life-threatening head injuries in a toilet cubicle at Yelverton. Now police want to speak to people who may have been using the other cubicles and overheard something at the public toilets by the Yelverton roundabout, close to St Paul's church on Friday afternoon. It is understood a number of people entered and left the other cubicles in the small building and they may hold key information which could assist detectives. Detective Chief Inspector Roy Linden from the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “We have launched an investigation following this serious assault. The injuries the victim sustained are significant and life threatening, and we are seeking to understand how these were caused. “We would like to speak to anyone who was in Yelverton in the vicinity of the shops and the area of Meavy Lane, from around 1.30pm yesterday, as they may have information … [Read more...] about Attempted murder in toilet cubicle: How events unfolded

Northern passengers ‘forced to stand in ‘toilet cubicles’ on packed train
Northern commuters claim they were 'forced to stand in toilet cubicles' because a train was so packed. Others couldn't get on and had to wait for the next one. Passengers travelling from Urmston to Manchester Oxford Road say they have been unable to board some peak-time services because they are so busy. One commuter, who asked not to be named, claimed the overcrowding is so bad he has been forced to ditch his £90 monthly ticket and spend extra cash on buses and taxis. He says that at times, trains are too busy to board and if commuters are able to get on, conditions are 'uncomfortable' and sometimes 'dangerous'. "If you do manage to get onto a train, it is always overcrowded and too busy," he added. "There is nothing to hold on to, meaning that if the train suddenly stops, you end up flying into other people. It's not safe. "A few weeks ago, people were forced to open the toilet cubicle door and stand in there because there was nowhere else to stand. Dad charged with ‘murdering beggar who followed his teen daughter into a toilet cubicle’ is hailed a hero by girl’s mum
A DAD has been charged with murdering a beggar who he claims followed his teen daughter into a toilet cubicle - and her mum has hailed him a hero. Melvin Harris, 40, of Phoenix, Arizona, picked up the 16-year-old and her two friends from work when they asked to stop off at a QuikTrip store to use the bathroom. The 40-year-old waited in the car where he was approached by a man, later identified as Leon Armstrong, who asked him for money just before midnight on August 2, ABC15 reports. Shortly after, he was told the man had walked into the ladies bathroom and tried to get into the stall his daughter was using by shaking the door. Harris informed staff at the store and told a security guard to "take care of the situation, or he would do it himself," according to court documents. The guard told him he would handle the matter but police say that as Harris was driving away he spotted Armstrong and got out of his car to confront him. Harris allegedly struck the man in the face - the blow … [Read more...] about Dad charged with ‘murdering beggar who followed his teen daughter into a toilet cubicle’ is hailed a hero by girl’s mum
