I’m desperate to have a baby this year – I want a two-hour labour & to pop her out to Mariah Carey, says Gemma Collins

· April 15, 2021 ·

GEMMA Collins has turned over a new leaf after almost losing her dad to Covid-19, revealing she has overhauled her lifestyle and is exercising daily in a bid to boost her health. Both Gemma’s parents - Joan and Alan, 74 - contracted the coronavirus, but it was the star’s dad who was left fighting for his life in intensive care. She says: “It was traumatising. I was heartbroken. I’ve never been scared of anything in my life. I’m quite a go-getter, but I was paralysed with fear. “I realised, when my mum and dad got really ill, no money in my bank account was saving them. “It was a big moment where I thought: ‘If you have not got your health, you have not got a chance of surviving.’ “It got me really thinking about lifestyle choices and changes - putting myself first.” The former Towie star’s parents were diagnosed with Covid in December. Gemma believes her mum’s rheumatoid arthritis medication helped prevent her from suffering as much as her dad, who spent six weeks … [Read more...] about I’m desperate to have a baby this year – I want a two-hour labour & to pop her out to Mariah Carey, says Gemma Collins

Russia paints ‘invasion stripes’ on assault vehicles as forces gather near Ukraine border

· April 14, 2021 ·

Russian forces massing on Ukraine’s border have daubed assault vehicles with ominous “invasion stripes,” heightening fears of all-out war breaking out. The Daily Mirror can also exclusively reveal that Russia will soon have a staggering assault force of 107,000 troops amassed at Ukraine’s border. It is far more than previously thought and emerged in documents leaked to the Mirror which include shocking details on the Russian firepower involved. Ukrainian military estimates of the advancing force include 1,300 battle tanks, 3,700 drones, 1,300 artillery and mortar units and 380 multiple launch rocket systems. The shocking numbers of troops alone represents at least 35,000 more Russian frontline troops more than the entire British Army following defence cuts. Obese couple shed huge 30st between them in bid to follow dream of becoming parents

· April 15, 2021 ·

An obese couple lost a staggering 30 stone between them to become parents after struggling to conceive for seven years. Dustin Hall shed a phenomenal 22 stone and his wife Raquel, 34, lost eight stone after doctors told them that losing weight was their only chance at parenthood. The 37-year-old underwent a gastric bypass in July 2016 and adopted a high-protein, low-carb diet to take him from a massive 38 stone to a svelte 15-and-a-half stone in just two-and-a-half years. Raquel, inspired by his success, had the same operation in December 2018 - and in April 2020 she discovered she was pregnant. The couple, from Lathrop, Northern California, USA, became parents to Presley on December 21, 2020 and insisted that their weight loss journey made parenthood possible. Dustin, who works in insurance, said: "The only reason we can have kids is because we lost a significant amount of weight and we kept it off. "I couldn't be an active father at 38 stone. I couldn't even tie my … [Read more...] about Obese couple shed huge 30st between them in bid to follow dream of becoming parents

Brit paratroopers drop into Ukraine in show of strength as Russia tensions rise

· September 18, 2020 ·

More than 200 crack British troops have parachuted into Ukraine in a show of strength as tensions rise between the embattled country and Russia. The drop is the biggest mass UK exercise in more than 20 years. Units including the 16th Air Assault Brigade joined forces with more than 200 Ukrainian paratroopers for this week’s jump just 100 miles from Moscow-controlled Crimea. It comes after Vladimir Putin stepped up military operations against Russia’s neighbour. * What is your view on this story? Have your say in the comments below The Mirror was the only British newspaper allowed to witness the para-drop, named Joint Endeavour. Elite Pathfinder soldiers had earlier parachuted in to scope a landing zone for the main assault force. Troops laden with up to 80lb of combat kit were dropped from C-130 warplanes flying at 600ft after leaving RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire. Soon after landing, Sgt John Jenkins, 33, of 7 Para RHA, told us: “We’re carrying a huge … [Read more...] about Brit paratroopers drop into Ukraine in show of strength as Russia tensions rise

I was worried my daughter was behind in maths but an online tool showed she was right on track

· March 23, 2021 ·

It's safe to say that there hadn't been a school year like it. Yet for my daughter and thousands of her peers it was the first experience of full time education. The reception class of 2019/2020 was unique in that as soon as the little ones found their feet and were really getting into school life - in came lockdown. While you could argue that a similar situation happened again to their 2020/2021 successors, there was certainly a period of 'what on Earth are we going to do?' in spring of last year that hasn't exactly been repeated. Home-schooling, classes on tablets and doing PE in your PJs with Joe Wicks. Throw in the havoc of home-working parenthood - it was an odd time. And while our children have been every bit as resilient and adapting as we often give them credit for, I wouldn't be a typical parent if I didn't wonder - even if only fleetingly -as to whether the disruption has affected my daughter's education. For English, particularly in the key foundation years, it's … [Read more...] about I was worried my daughter was behind in maths but an online tool showed she was right on track
